Goings-on at the District 8 caucus
Published Tuesday, February 5, 2008
At the Corinthian Baptist Church, where the Democratic Caucus for House District 8 took place, more than 400 people attended. I am here now, and it is winding down. Obama won, but it's not winner-take-all. Here's the breakdown: Clinton got 124 votes and Obama wound up with 287. I am told that the 12 people who went for John Edwards during the first round of voting switched to Obama. People were able to choose several candidates, including Edwards, who had pulled out of the race nationally because the candidates did not call the Alaska Democratic Party to withdraw.
I had better get back to the J.P. Jones Center, where they should have results for the rest of the Fairbanks districts.
