Jmailman - technically, rvonsr is correct. Alaska is in fact one of the most active earthquake areas. However, Alaska is almost a continent in itself. Most of the activity is rather far - mainly in the Aleutians. Go here

jmailman - I'm in New Jersey. I felt the ground shake once. It was about a 3, give or take a few tenths. The epicenter was about 60 miles from me. But the earthquakes here travel further due to the relative lack of faults that would dissipate the energy. I was in CA when there was about a 5.3 in Bakersfield. I was 100 miles away and felt nothing.
