I have just returned from two weeks in your wonderful State. IT WAS WONDERFUL!!! We hit Fairbanks, Denali, Anchorage, Seward, Kenai Fjords, Glacier Bay, Haines, Juneau, and Ketchikan. The scenery was wonderful, the animals abundent, the sea life awesome, However, the people we met really made the trip. We found Alaskans to be warm, friendly, and helpful. What impressed us the most was their love for their State.
The info I recieved on this web site before we left was very helpful. And, I did get to see the News Miner Building!!! Thanks to everyone who is on this site.

Thanks for the responses.....looks like our first stop will definitely be the Visitor Center. We are coming from western New York State (right on Lake Ontario). This trip is a dream come true! I can't wait to get there!!

I have been following this site off and on for about 6 months now. Love it!!! 6 of us will be in FB for about 48 hours beginning May 27th. (Part of our land/curise adventure.) We have a little free time. Does anyone have suggestions as to the one or two things we definitely should see in FB before we leave? Perhaps something now well known but really wonderful? We all love nature and history. Thanks. Patti

flapalms...........my husband and I and 4 friends just returned from a 2 week vacation in AK. We booked a Holland America Cruise/Tour. It was FANTASTIC!!! Flew into Fairbanks and spent two nights there, on to Denali for two nights, Anchorge for one night, then Seward for a night. Got the ship (Zanndam) in Seward, cruised through Galcier Bay, stopped in Haines, Juneau, and Ketchikan. Lots of excursions included in the price and many more you can book for an extra fee. We had the time of our lives!! I can't say enough about how wonderful the people of AK were or how wonderful the scenery and wildlife were. We would all go back in a minute if we could. We had heard that HA cruises usuallly cater to an "older" crowd and we found that to be true...........I would say most people over 50.....very few children............although they do have activities scheduled for children if they are on board. Suggestion: whatever trip you decide to go on......try to manage both land and cruise to get the most out of AK. Also, take a trip that begins on land with the ship part last. The cruise is so very relaxing after changing hotels every night or two on land! Good luck ad book early.
