AKhusky:
FYI In the early 1960s, several hydroelectric dams were built on the "MUDDY MO" aka Missouri River. Five of these were in the Dakotas alone. I lived there at the time and this river looked exactly like the Tanana and earned its name as the Muddy Mo. 48 years latter, all the dams are still operating properly providing CHEAP electricity to the Plain States and providing a world class clear water (i.e. Salcha river quality) fishery for several species of fish. As an example, a family member lives in a 1200 square foot 2 bedroom, 2 bath Condo with electric heat and the total electric bill has not exceeded $103.00 a month even during their cold winters (it was generally colder there this winter than Fbks) and hot summers!! It's nice to visit there and see a dam using the same resource over and over as the river travels through the state. Since moving to Alaska 35 years ago, it has constantly amazed me that Alaska hasn't used this great resource to it's greatest potential. Of course, we all know the answer and it started with the snail darter in the Tennessee Valley Authority! Way to go envirionmentalists! This is posted for info only. Nuff Said.

I have promoted a similiar version of Joe's idea for six months now and appreciate his efforts. As a thought, why not take the cost of energy in Anchorage and use that as a basis for the user's cost and bill the state for anything in excess of that amount???? Now that would be true "cost equalization" for those of us that don't live in the city that is home to half of Alaska" population. Nuff said.

Kudos to Timbo and Walmart. Bus ridership will only increase with the price of fuel and its good to see corporate America providing a convenience instead of waiting for government to screw it up!

If FHR has such difficulty in separating the books on all of their different entities, how in the world do they know that they "need assistance" financially at their NP refinery????? Just asking and Nuff said.

Hi Everybody
If the News-Miner report was accurate, then Jay's actions were probably motivated by frustration--could it be that in his recent trip to China, that he promised the Chinese that he would see that Alaska's LNG would be shipped to them? Reminds me of Bill Clinton's Chinese connections and the political financial donations he received from them, some of which were"under the table". Ramras isn't Bill Clinton, but the similarity between their recent rantings and accusations is very telling. Nuff said.

With all of his hate name calling, I can't decide whether to refer to him as CRAZY CRAIG OR CRAPPY CRAIG!! or maybe Crappy Crazy Craig would really do.

Hey News Miner
You ain't heard nothing yet until Mayors, Bob Thomas etc. try to force railroad traffic into other neighborhoods and businesses using the "southern bypass" route. What a misnomer, "bypass" is. It is simply taking a problem out of one part of town and trasferring it to another. There is no "bypass" involved!! Nuff said.

"Ditto" on the Healy power plant. Here is a resource already connected to our Interior grid system and it is just setting there. When you ask GVEA directors why it isn't being used, you get a "knowing all" look that you just can't comprehend the problems that this plant would bring with it. When you inquire as to what these problems may be, you get no reply because of all the legal hassles GVEA has been through with AEIDA and the directors are not allowed to talk about it. Well GVEA, try explaining it so that I "can" understand why it isn't being used. C'mon News Miner, where are all of your investigative staff when it comes to this issue. The Healy power plant could offer immediate relief that we don't have to wait until 2020 to help reduce our enery costs. With these increases, a person would be crazy to think that plugging in a hybrid car is going to reduce his transportation costs! Nuff said.

Hey folks. Remember Y2K?? World economies were going to collapse on December 31, 1999 at midnight and everything would be in chaos. Money and food were hoarded. Why we wouldn't even be able to buy gas as the pumps weren't going to work! Electrical generation plants were going to fail! Banks would collapse. Well, it was all hype, much to the advantage of some who sold generators and other products deemed necessary for survival. And those BAD software programs that were going "blow up" all had to be replaced beforehand. In other words, there were profits to be made as governments and industries spent Billions of dollars to prevent this so called potential devastion. So guess who has invested in carbon credits program. None other than Nobel winner himself, Al Gore! I'll believe in global warming if and when true scientists provide documented evidence of such, not just computer models showing it hasn't happened before and and is only happening now in our lifetime.
