One of the most disturbing lines I read during the spike in oil prices from yahoo.com news was, "The price of crude oil jumped again today amid worries that the price of crude oil is going up." So it's going higher because you think it's going higher? How does that make sense?
Also, with crude oil down $7 in 3 days it's actually gone up almost $9 over the last two with Russia in conflict with Georgia and a shorter than expected supply of gasoline in the U.S. Who knows, we'll probably have $200bbl next July with August prices of $150bbl.
So when is the electric car gonna be ready for production?

So in about three days are we going to have the letter titled "Why NO on 3"? This letter is about as useful as the letters praising Obama or bashing Don Young/Ted Stevens. Literature from this forum or the letters to the editor section of the Daily News Miner should not sway voters.
If your letting someone else convince you either to vote or not to vote for a candidate/issue based on his or her opinion, then just don't vote. Let the cadidates currently running or your own interpretation of the issues at hand influence your vote. It's our country but it's ultimately up to the individual who votes for what he/she believes in that decides who and how it's run.

Here's some science for ya: The human body needs about 32 different kinds of protein in order to function and replace old or damaged cells. All 32 proteins can be found in most meats while only about 25 can be found in vegetables (eggplant, beans, etc...). So for the remaining seven proteins, guess where we humans get them from? If you think tofu, think again, humans are evolved to survive off both.
People who are strict vegetarians are not healthy people! They might have low cholesterol and weigh less than than people who eat meat but, they take longer to recover from injuries, they tire easily, and their bodies harvest protein from the most readily available source when it runs out, the heart.
Because of the way cardiac muscle cells are built, your body actually harvests proteins from your heart muscle before it takes it from anywhere else. THIS IS NOT HEALTHY!!! A steady diet of both meat and vegetables combined with regular exercise is the only way to truly live healthy.
Now I'm gonna go post a few videos on youtube of the brutal slaying of some cabbage with a machete or some carrots being ripped right out of the ground without any warning, would I convert some people to carnivorism? Didn't think so either...

So if we pay $2.50/gal on gas, heating oil, diesel, etc, while the state pays the rest; whats to keep the oil companies from just jacking the price up to $10, maybe $20 per gallon?
What we save at the pump will murder us during tax season. The state will reduce their own costs for oil by making every resident pay an oil tax to the state. Seems like a slippery slope to me.
I feel like the easiest and cheapest solution is still selling ALASKA'S CRUDE OIL to ALASKANS!!! You'll still get a dividend, not one worth two thousand dollars but you'll save more at the pump.

Not to bash the Anchorage students who did this survey, but is anyone anywhere using 4% of their income on energy? That must be a typo or a misunderstanding cause that would mean my heating, gas, and electricity COMBINED would be about $133 a month. My average heating bill is more than my mortgage! It costs $70 just to fill up my little truck! Was any sort of common sense or basic knowledge put into this article?
I sincerely hope the villages are using only 40% of their income on energy cause I would LOVE to use less than half of my income on gas etc...

I wish they'd hurry up and just scrap this whole project so that we can stop living with the hope that our state legislators are going to do something about the energy crisis in the interior.
I'll just spend my $2,000 dividend filling up my tank and hopefully freeze to death by the time I get to have my hopes smashed by our own government.

What all that math failed to mention was that in 1969 when tanker Manhatten drove all the way south through the ice, the huge (I'm assuming diesel) engines on that boat only cost a few dimes a gallon to run. The cost of SHIPPING has skyrocketed which is why everything else is so expensive right now.
There are no food shortages, there's no wood shortages, there's not even an OIL shortage. Prices are inflated due to market speculation and the fuel required to ship items (whether by truck or boat) is as a result, much higher. Even the president of OPEC acknowledged the price for crude is way too high. Does that mean it will go down? Hopefully yes but probably not.

I can't help but think this also has something to do with Alaskans paying fifty cents or more than the national average for gas. It's too bad they took this survey in 2006 when gas was still under $4.00 a gallon. Now Alaskans pay much much higher prices for fuel than second place New Hampshire. Our average credit card debt is probably closer to $5,000 per person now.
Will we ever see $3.00 a gallon again? Probably not. Will we have a natural gas pipeline built in 5 years? Don't count on it. Do the credit card companies care if you can't afford gas? Of course not. Are any of our elected officials gonna do anything about it? Not yet they haven't...

20 loads of laundry seems WAY beyond excess. When I lived at a house with 5 other people we did, wait for it, FIVE loads a week! If your kids are small, you should be able to do multiple children's clothes at once. Putting aside your exaggerated costs of fuel, how do you justify 20 loads of laundry a week??!!
My god between the laundry and all the baths your kids take you must go through several THOUSAND gallons of water a month! Why don't you just pretend for a few weeks that America is in the middle of an energy crisis and that maybe it's time to turn the faucet off, turn off the lights, and park the car a few extra times a week in order for you to do YOURSELF some good.

Clean gas house emissions by 2050... By implication that would mean Obama would still be president in 2050, I sure hope not.
Just like any other candidate who's ever run for president, he's all talk. I'll do this and I'll do that, with no actual plan (other than saying he has one) for possible ramifications of his actions. I'm sick of hearing how President Bush is at fault for everything, and I'm sick of hearing how Senator Obama is going to fix it all.
If I wanted to live in a communist country, I'd move to China or vote for Obama. But for now, this Alaskan is for McCain Palin!!!
On Still Obama
