"When the 'nominating' committee decided to not forward the name of the incumbent, Mr. Delong, for reelection, they were telling the GVEA members who ELECTED Tom Delong to the board that they were WRONG in the last election."
Or.... They were telling the members that it just happens to be possible that someone MORE QUALIFIED applied this time.
