The potential for the BOG to abuse their privelages is tremendous. In 2004, the ADF&G testified that they did not have the science to support proposed aerial predator control programs the BOG wanted to initiate. The BOG ignored the testimony of the "scientific community". The BOG is composed of very radical individuals wanting to push extreme predator control programs based on their opinion only and without any checks and balances. Alaska does not support ideological management of our wildlife resources. This will only harm the hunters reputation and provide huge amounts of bad press for Alaska. In Unit 16 the BOG has authorized the unlimited gunning of Black Bears this year, including cubs and sows with cubs. No Limits and you can sell the hides! SFW is even subsisdising hunts if you are a paying member. Can't wait to see the fallout from the first cub hide being sold! NO WAY BOG - YOU HAVE TO OPERATE BY THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE - SB 176 is not good for Alaska!

Alaskan's have voted twice in regards to aerial predator control. 56,000 Alaskan's want to vote a third time on this issue. Alaskan's want to vote on public policy issues.

THe legislature refuses to listen to Alaskan's!!! We vote, we hunt and we care about our wildlife resources. We DON'T want aerial predator control by private citezens. We DON'T want science removed from the mandates for the BOG. WE DON'T want to remove the citizen intiative process from defining wildlife management policy (72% of voting ALASKAN'S said so in 2000)!!!

Alaskan's demand to be included in the management of our wildlife resources. IF the legislature can't understand that after two votes we'll vote again!!!!!!

I agree that aerial predator control programs that do not use science to prove the specific predator that may be causing problems is bad policy. Allowing the Board of Game to use only their opinion to develop and initiate predator control programs will harm the hunting community as well as potentially harming other user groups as well. I love to hunt but believe a healthy ecosystem rely's heavily on the checks and balances affored by predators. The BOG needs checks and balances to effectively manage our wildlife resources. Otherwise they'll destroy our hunting heritage in the eyes of the non hunter.
