ffsgirl,
yes we do pay electric now that we are under privatized housing. The military is no longer our "landlord", there are outside companies that are our landlord and we do pay electric. And like someone else said this isnt just for electric and such its also for gas.

On Alaska Legislature passes $1,200 energy rebate

To answer the questions on who is getting it and who isnt. If you go to adn.com there is a little artical about who qualifies for it or not and there is no exceptions except for veterans.

From Wesley Loy in Juneau –

I've been bombarded tonight with e-mails like this:

"We moved to Alaska in August '07, so we do not qualify for the dividend. Does that exclude us from the resource rebate?"

"What about the people who have lived here for more than a year, but are not eligible for the PFD because we have not lived here a full calender year? I moved to Alaska in June of 2007. Am I going to receive the resource rebate?"

"I have been in Alaska for a year and a half now, and I live here. However, I have not been here long enough to qualify for the PFD. Do I still qualify for this money?"

The short answer to all these questions is no, you won't get the resource rebate.

Only those people who qualify for the Permanent Fund dividend will get it. The only exception, as I understand it, is a small pool of about 400 disabled veterans who haven't applied for this year's dividend.

Sorry!

Shy - are you saying that an Alaskan resident who goes and defends their country looses their right to the benefits of being an Alaskan resident? There are cheaters everywhere in society, not just the military. Those who are deceivers should be caught within the application process of applying for a dividend. The money is for those who are approved for the dividend. I think this is a sad statement to those men and women - encluding my husband - that they do not deserve the benefits of being Alaskan because they are defending our country. We have high energy costs too.

so what your saying is that cause we have no choice but to leave that state we shouldnt get the dividends. They give those in the military certain guildlines to follow if they choose to still get that check every year. And some dont do it cause if we dont plan on coming back they can turn around and make us pay back ALL of the dividends we got. And its just not alaskans who are having energy problems, ppl in the states are having just has much problems then you guys. Dont get me wrong I lived there for 9 years and I know how expensive things are up there.
And just cause we dont live there doesnt mean we arent residents, and if we got approved for the dividend then we must of done what we needed to do to still be qualified for it.

as a mother of 2 I cant believe that someone could do that. That is just horrible. How can you sleep in the same room without feeling something, how can you just go about your life like nothing happened.. That is what makes me sick about some ppl. Disgrace to the mothers in the world who would DIE for their kids, I hope they give her the death penalty!!!!!

yes we do intend on coming back we want to retire in ketchikan. Well I have heard from military members who have had to pay back the divdend cause they never returned back and other things so they watch the military pretty closely. They ask for orders, and other things. I have been an alaskan resident for 10 years and my husband for 4 years now and we will always be and never change. and our truck is still registered up there also. There are many things you have to do in order to keep getting it when you are a military member or their dependents. and when they ask you if you have been gone out of the state for 180 or more days they ask you why and if they dont think its a valid answer or what not then they will deny you.
And I totally understand where you are coming from AKsilvereagle that isnt right he didnt get it. That was wrong.

Actually olypopper the military members can get the PFD. My husband is in the air force and we dont live in alaska anymore but plan on visiting within the time frame we have to and plan on coming back up there to live, and he is still getting his PFD.
