This is why I always tell people that allowing TVs and computers to be in a child's room is a bad idea. Can't monitor their time nor what they watch or visit, even with Vchip, blocking, gaming, etc.

Some friends of mine had all school-age kids and only 2 computers. Kept them in the living room. The oldest ones with homework got their stuff done first, then fooling around was permitted if chores and dinner were done.

Computer time was negotiated with either completion of chores or homework. As the kids got older, they had the option of either earning pocket money or computer time.

Worked pretty well for them.

That's because we dumb Americans don't know how to drive a multilane roundabout. Biggest one I ever negotiated was a 5 laner in Belgium, for about 2 months. Wasn't too bad, just had to pay attention (whoa, now THERE'S a concept, har).

U. would be stupid place for one just by virtue of how people haul arse thru there. I would also like to see a few travel corridors for OHV/Sno-gos so their interaction with vehicles is minimalized. But that was a big stink about 5 years ago.

Sorry Sheila; some folks chose to live that way too. Can't make them conform to yet another 'law' if they don't want the help to begin with, tough as it is to 'siwash' out in winter here.

Susie, you missed out on Frank Murkowski. That's how Palin got into office; the short version.

glacierles, in case you missed Palin's speeches while stumping, she's pretty venomous herself. Plenty of inciteful hate spew. I started changing the channel.

C'mon now. Folks need their firearms up there to get their groceries and run their traplines. No sense in doing something stupid if it means Fin-n-Fur might confiscate your gear.

That's the other word I'm sick to death of being misused/abused "terror[ized]", in this and other contexts.

Folks might be spooked up there as we were last month, but certainly not terrorized.

Grrrrr....so to speak. Break out a dictionary once in awhile Tim, not just for crossword puzzles.

AFAIC, Alaska Air started going down the toilet when they started flying back East.

That said, ASA--dock back the horns a little bit, and keep your flights west of Dallas and Denver. Even a farmer knows when to let a field lay fallow in hard times.

Who knows? If you do that you might return to that stellar outfit that I used to work for.

Cool, just like the posse at the Oasis a few years ago. Put one of those two thugs in the back of an ambulance, not a cop car.

If you are going somewhat under the posted speed limit, and pass under the 'prepare to stop' sign as it starts to flash, that's your green-to-yellow indication, LOL!

They don't seem to work quite as well here, but in Spokane where my Dad lives, the 'do not walk' signs gave you a clue as to the light change. Flashes 7 times. I've watched them up here, not as consistent.

Oh I dunno- that right turn lane on U. and College northbound is where I tend to see people not pay attention to the light for that lane, and come close to a t-bone as I'm crossing from Alumni to College eastbound. Goes back to people thinking they're privileged to do the 'hurry-up' in spite of correctly moving traffic.

I also agree on folks who try to pressure you thru the turns. What they're forgetting is that YOU are the one who's ultimately responsible for yielding as the situation demands. Several years ago, someone try to be nice and wave my Mom thru a turn, and she got t-boned for her trouble, AND she was the one at fault for failure to yield. Sucked. I had bought that car for her only a few months beforehand.
