It's different because for a motorcycle it can mean certain death. The human body isn't designed to go from 45mph to 0 on the side of a yukon. If a vehicle hits that same suv at 45, the not-at-fault vehicle driver has a great chance of walking away.

I liked the idea of just subsidizing the cost of energy directly.

meaning, the state would pay for half of all residential electric bills or something, and half of fuel oil... immediately dropping the cost of energy, while not making us pay income taxes to uncle sam.

and what a success "save eielson" was. If I recall, the BRAC commissioners never saw anything CLOSE to what we did here in fairbanks, not even in the same league.

I dare say, Ted Stevens has contributed more to this state than anyone else, ever. He's certainly not perfect (nor his son!)... but dang if he hasn't accomplished some great feats.

we're all used to delays in that area of town during christmas. I think that is the reason people are generally indifferent. Christmas is way worse, IMHO.

I too am grateful for their service here. They have done much good and are a great face of the military here in alaska. Saving lives is always a good cause.

This is true comedy.

I hate to sound so ignorant, but I have noticed a disproportionate amount of over-cautious (under the speed limit) drivers that roll in subies. I dont know why this is, but it's my personal observation.

I think your all overthinking things when someone pulls out in front you. For me, it's not typically a big deal. Every once in a while though (say a couple times a year) someone will pull out and go so slow I have to almost panic-brake just to not rear end them. When someone does that, I punish by tailgating. I know they hate me and think I'm stupid, but it's not road rage. In reality, every time I lock eyes with them on their rear-view mirror, my day gets better. When I'm satisfied I'll pass. Or maybe they'll go a reasonable speed and I'll back off. But it's a treatment I reserve for those that do it in a VERY truly inconsiderate or ignorant manner.
