The bills are still high, some of us budgeted our money so we knew we had enough when the sales came down the pipe.

"sweet71- do you have any pets or children?"
LA90210 (grin, it's a joke!) I've already answered this question.
Guess what, not only do we have a dog kennel fenced yard for the doggies, we also have a fence around the entire yard! OMG....a double system to keep my dog contained....should we all drop over in shock! If I came home and someone was able to get both latches open without being eaten by my Akita and let her out and she got caught in a trap...I wouldn't be crying to the media about PERSECUTE THE NEIGHBOR! I'd be saying MAN I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE GOT OUT AND feeling a large amount of guilt for my lack of better planning. Where is the hypocrisy in that?
As I previously stated, they need to fine BOTH PARTIES AND PROSECUTE THEM ACCORDINGLY TO THE LAWS THEY BROKE.
It's like the guy who pointed the gun at the 12yr old girl who was HUNTING ILLEGALLY ON HIS PROPERTY. They did NOTHING to the guardian (her father) or her that were hunting illegally....didn't even take their meat away from them. Instead the guy who was trying to detain them because he had called the wildlife troopers for their poaching ends up in jail. What a joke. Like that girl learned anything from that except that she's above the law. There is a complete lack of PERSONAL RESPONSIBLITY and I think it's about time that people start learning what the means.
It's not the dogs fault, it's the OWNERS who let him run loose. Again, the dog suffers because of the the stupidity of humans....all involved in this case.

AK_WDB said "So you think that, if someone doesn't want others' dogs on their property, the acceptable thing to do is set up a trap that brutally kills those dogs?"
You really need to quit making these wild hair assumptions and reading between the lines. I said the owner is RESPONSIBLE for the actions of their dog and what happens to the dog. If an owner allows their charge to run loose, they need to take RESPONSIBILITY for what happens to it...whether it's getting caught in a trap, hit by a car, ingests antifreeze from the snow in a neighbor's driveway....either way. IT'S THE OWNER'S RESPONSIBILITY that the dog suffers.
Quit trying to put words in my mouth that I did not say. I'm not weighing in on whether the trap is the right course of action....I said the owners need to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for their actions and buck it up. If they want to take anything away from this whole experience, they should review their own actions before pointing the finger at anyone else. Too much placing blame here when it's really all there in the mirror....if they had kept the dog at home or under a watchful eye.... the dog would still be alive today.

AK_WDB if my dog got loose (almost impossible but has happened before) and she got into a trap on another person's porch, damn straight it's MY FAULT. She's my responsibility and has no business there.
You have no idea if I'm a hypocrite so quit making ASSumptions.

I would love for this to go to court so we could all find out the facts....horse can be very mean to other horses, especially when you have geldings that think they are stallions. I've seen horses kick, bite, attack, throw, and try to kill other horses. I love horses but they are not a passive type of animal when the herd instincts kick in. They will do whatever is necessary to show their domination if they feel the need, just like two dogs going at it. I hope the FNSB Animal Control starts paying attention to people's complaints so this doesn't continue to happen.

Wow what a poor title for this article. News Minus you need to do better.

Again another dog owner brings pain and suffering on their dog. I think they should both be penalized. The dog owner should be fined whatever Anchorage charges for a loose dog as a reminder that they are responsible for their dog, where ever he is. The trap setter should be fined for not having a trap set in the correct area.
What happened to PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY in this state? People, you are RESPONSIBLE for your actions. If your animals pay the price for your laziness, that is all on your head. Shame on you people for your negligence with your beloved dog.
"The Lazenbys are devastated by Grizzly's death, and driven to see the person who killed him held responsible." They should be driven to spread the news that people need to be responsible for your dog. You are responsible for what your children do, you should have equal diligence with your animals as well.
