There is a picture of the moose and guy on the ADN..... and that is definitely NO yearling moose, News Miner! Good article on ADN... and they reported how the moose was following the rest of the people there looking for more ear scratches from anyone!
On Anchorage biologist says too-tame moose might have to be killed

lagirl: Nowhere in my comment was I agreeing with you and don't put words in my mouth. You seem to have a warped idea of everyone's attitude in this town thinking everyone is hostile when they walk in the door.
A server should have a considerate attitude of treating others as they would like to be treated, as human beings, and not be looking at customers merely as "wallets" walking in the door as you seem to be putting it. And anyone working as a server has no business treating customers poorly just because THEY think the customer has a poor attitude. Oh that's right, a "chip on their shoulder" as you put it. A little kindness given to someone that "has a chip on their shoulder" could brighten their day and doesn't cost you a cent.

Oh, and let's not forget, we are also paying to put a margin of profit ($$$) into the pocket of the person who owns the business!

Just to clear the air here, lagirl. When you walk into a restaurant you are paying what the restaurant has determined to be a profitable price and costs considered into the price of the meal is the cost of the food itself, the cost to prepare it, the cost of upkeep and utilities of the restaurant building AND the pay of the employees that work there. That is just to name a few items.
And no, you don't pay a price for service, but it is well within reason to expect to be treated with hospitality.

There is a lot more to this issue than just tipping in a restaurant. One of my peeves is that when this 50 year old woman goes to Home Depot for plywood, I first have to hike across the back 40 acres of parking lot to get a cart to put it on because there are none anywhere near the store entrance. Then, can I find someone to help me load the stuff? Heck no... they scatter like flies when the Raid comes out! I took to using the "drag and drop" technique to get my first sheet down from the rack which was at head height, and then another customer arrived on the scene to help me with the next two sheets. There was also no help offered to get my 3/4" plywood outside and loaded into my truck either as I guess after it is paid for, it's my responsibility. (Safeway offers at least twice to help me carry my two bitty bags of groceries to my car.) Well, I again had offers to help load my truck with my plywood by customers in the parking lot even though I did have this end under control. It seems the customer service could be improved many times over as they should at least be interested in preventing customer injuries on their property.

If Hitler had won, first, you wouldn't have the ability to post your comments in a public newspaper like this.
And if you had simply voiced any criticism of the german military, as you do of our armed forces, you would have been shot.
duh

Does anyone want some cheese to go with their whine, whine, whine?
Suck it up!
A lot of men and women in the military have died just so you can have the freedom to post your criticism. If you can't handle a little noise in the name of freedom, please leave! I will be happy to hold the door open for you ungrateful people!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

The airlines would do well to just place each passenger and their luggage together on a scale and charge for any "overage". Lardbutts and grannies alike.
But, yes, I do agree that the military should not be charged for having to pack their combat gear. The airlines didn't put a lot of thought into implementing this new fee... not with all the $$$$$$$ spinning in their heads!
On Airlines back off extra bag fees for military
