We had a dog out here in Two Rivers that had been SHOT and was running around (one of those 'uncatchable' sled dogs) on three legs and they wouldn't do anything about it. We ended up borrowing a trap ourselves and catching the animal after several several several calls to the shelter. Luckily enough a very caring resident of our community was able to take her in and get her the help she needed!

There have also been complaints about a few horses in the area that have been allowed to 'free graze' in a field that doesn't belong to their owner. These horses are a nuisance and have caused problems for trail users time and time again....let alone the profits that are being eaten up (pun intended). Animal Control gets called again and again and yet nothing come of it and the owner continues to be irresponsible.

Saw him opening night at the coliseum in Vegas a few years back and it was well worth the $$ (and MUCH more than what they plan to charge here). His show is fantastic as would be expected. I highly recommend going if you have the chance. I am taking my 14 y/o son and hey guess what....I don't think that watching Elton perform is going to make him come home wearing a skirt and make-up. That kind of thinking is just ignorance run amuck.

Buying booze online is nothing new, especially here in the US. You don't have to go to an 'overseas' site to find it. For example, about 8 years ago in Denver, CO I found out while visiting friends you could get on the internet and order from one of the biggest stores in the city, and the booze would be at your door in an hour or less. In another mountain village we lived in had 2 liquor stores that delivered. There have also been several wine, beer, and other alcohol clubs that have made this internet option available so that those who cannot travel to the vineyard. brewery, or distillery can still sample their wares. It cannot be delivered by USPS and like the sentiment issued earlier, you just have to click that box saying you are 21 or over.

If you teach your own children to make good choices these are things you do not have to worry about them getting in to. If you are aware if where they are spending their time, and what they are doing online this is something you don't have to worry about.

I live out here in Two Rivers as well, and we are getting 'boomed' daily. What I love the most (and so do my kiddos) is heading out after we get rattled by the first ones and then just laying in the snow and watching the skies to locate the other jets. When it first happened last year I had a neighbor run over and ask if we were ok...he thought that something had blown over here! hehe Kinda funny huh? Anyway, keep flying...we love ya!!

If you are ready to 'storm' then I'll be right by your side Corinne and I agree that Jeff is a subsistence hunter. If they had come to the camp and that moose was dead and just left to rot there is no doubt that he would have been charged with wanton waste! If they can't get ya on one thing, they just change the 'rules' and get a on something else.

OK.....so....let's run down what happened in my life...married, had 3 boys, he left to be with another women before the twins (natural and identical) were born leaving me to 'figure it out'. I was high risk pregnancy so I had to leave my job in order to remain healthy. So now, single mom raising 3 kids....got on her feet and had a great job but couldn't continue working due to becoming disabled. Oh did I mention that my oldest is legally blind....and the child support that never comes...that helps right? My point is that people can't save for a variety of reasons and sometimes that puts 'us people' in bad places...places we do not WANT to be. We are good people (most of whom do NOT have 'toys' sitting around), and let me tell you, I wouldn't hesitate to help a friend with a place to stay, or a meal to eat, or a ride somewhere or whatever else might be needed because that is what decent people do, they care about the people around them regardless of how their 'problem' happened in the first place. I think that for the most part people here are kind and decent people and in ANY city, town, burb, there are going to be those who continually turn a blind eye to what is REALLY going on around them.

honeyhi--
I feel for your plight. I was lucky enough a few summers ago to have run across a nice family who let us camp with them at the homestead they were care-taking north of town. It's a shame that more people aren't like that. I think that we were real lucky to have those people in our lives. (and trust me that wasn't the first time in my life that I've been given much needed help.)

newsreader--
I applaud you for opening your home (as I have also done on many occasions)...you might be surprised at how that will effect the generosity of your friends far into the future. It really makes you appreciate the help you've been given.

banks907--
I hope that you are never in a situation where you need help. It isn't about choices a lot of the time....it could be about losing a home because the landlord decides to sell it instead of renting, it could be that you lost a roommate and couldn't afford to pay rent, it could be that you lost a job due to downsizing, etc...I don't believe that you should sit in judgement of anyone.

There are so many good people in this community and I believe that it is good to recognize that. Many of us offer whatever we can, whenever we can to help those around us. And I too would like to say thank you for those of you kind enough to treat others as you would like to be treated. It is truly a gift!

My only contribution to this is that Kent's parents are very good friends with my mother and the last decade has been horrible for them and their family. Instead of debating whether or not the headline is 'correct' how about throwing some positive energy and thoughts toward the family who lost their son, brother, etc...

Mechele made her own decision in instrumenting this murder for money!! No one coerced her....it was her idea, her 'plot'...she lured him out there with the sole intention of having him killed.

I have a friend who has travelled extensively and has a fun collection of paraphernalia from around the world....and he doesn't smoke. I met someone else who happens to be an FBI agent who has a nice collection of never been smoked out of pipes as well. Possession of paraphernalia does not always equal use!

I think that the rule is that no, there are no dog drops (there aren't in a few other races across the state either due to logistics)and you have to finish with the dogs you start with but you can carry dogs in your sled if they become sick or injured so as to avoid further illness/injury.
