Jay, Dude! come on! You're supposed to be representing Alaskans.

The big oil companies have done nothing but screw us on the natural gas. They have always had enough to do the line and bring us a lower costing heating fuel. They're too damn greedy and will drag their feet forever to drive the price up even further.

I think it's time we turned the tables and made them bend over. They'll promise to develop and ship OUR natural gas or we'll revoke their leases on the natural gas resources and have others lined up before the line is even done.

At $140+ dollars a barrel and the relentless ravaging of our wallets, it's way past time for Alaska to take off the kids gloves and stop playing so damn nice and cautious.

If the oil companies try to sue us, we'll just put it in front of a jury and see how they fair. If they win any kind of settlement, we'll drag it out for 20 years and get it cut to nothing but pocket change. Learn from their example, they've been playing this game longer than we have. It's time to play hard ball.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way!

So much drama. All I care about is how the tax payers will foot the bill for yet ANOTHER blunder. Every dollar wasted in the lawsuit, every dollar used to settle, is just one more dollar that wont be spent on things we actually need.

Way to go.

PS: it's also VERY clear to me, where our republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Ted Stevens and Rep. Don Young, stand on issues of Alaskans vs Big Oil.

At a time of scandals and re-election, when they should be making their alliances, they have shown us where they side.

We will remember you.

It just seems to me, some votes are bought and paid for.

A jury spoke, and some judges thew it out. Note "some", there were other judges that felt the system worked right and wished to leave it be.

To them, my thanks and respect on this matter.

The courts are the ones making a mockery of the system.

Why even have a jury if the courts can just set aside their decision and do what they want to do. The courts are the ones making a mockery of the system. Do they think judges can't be bought? That they are flawless decision makers?

It does show just how petty the law can be at times. Seems like instead of battering the poor guy on a DUI, they could have just got him on a disorderly conduct or some other lesser offense.

I guess they get more bonus miles for each DUI arrest they make or something. We can all feel a little safer on our lawns tonight.

Thanks guys.

It's precisely what I'd expect from some business reps. Fortunately they don't speak for all of fairbanks, just a small portions of the special interests groups.

Seriously, the state is spending millions in research, advisors, committees and not to mention the many days of discussions, and yet this small group of local business reps think they know better.

Thank goodness Gov Palin seems to distance herself well from special interests groups.

Ahh the old smoke and mirrors trick. Yes, it sounds like the alaska dept of revenue should have a word with netflix about where the money is. I've had transactions on EBAY where they tried to pull this stunt of charging me a tax. I just politely remind them there is no tax for us and to collect a tax in the name of a state when none exists is fraud and likely on the federal level due to the borders. They always dropped the issue.

It's clear to me, that the oil companies could have built the gas line long ago. They're only proposing to make their own now, to derail the AGIA process. It would be my hope, that the state sue them on this matter to ban any such projects that conflicts with the states AGIA process.

I would also love to see their leases modified on the grounds that they have had ample time and resources go develop and market our natural gas, but have chosen not to do so. Revoke their rights to natural gas resources and re-sell the leases to other companies who will commit to the AGIA process.

AND you can bet that if ANWR is ever opened up, I would never give the big oil companies a lease option in there.

It's not a perfect world.. nor can we produce a perfect system.

There are in fact, unscrupulous and negligent doctors who find it easier to treat pain with meds, then actually fixing the underlying problems. There are also doctors who abuse their power to prescribe. And we should not forget the penny pinching health care insurance providers, that decide it's cheaper the have meds prescribed, then to authorize funding for procedures that would fix the problems.

There are many patients who abuse the system by obtaining pain meds from multiple sources to supply their own habits or to sell the meds on the black market.

It's unfair to penalize the honest doctors and patients, but the truth remains, that the first step in addressing many of the problems, is by shedding light on them.
