Interesting to see the greed come out in folks who "depend" on that $$ and also their children’s money. The PFD is a way of life and a welfare check, of which the Feds get a chunk.
The better idea is to hold the child’s PFD money in trust until they are 18 and then give it to them in a lump sum. This way their parents can't spend it for them ...lol.
Can you hear the screams now?

hckywtchr you and seven51 sound like morons.
Clio gave an honest assessment and you two start spouting off at the mouth like a two year old drooling over the desert... go away.
Being a cab driver is a tough job and the very few times I have used them I have received good service at a fair price.

How about we buy them a one-way ticket to Ft. Yukon and you deal with them on your dime, not mine? We would also put a restriction on their return travel until certified as alcohol free for one year.
There you go ... a valid solution that works for everyone.

I understand what is being said but I simply disagree with the logic. Maybe it is slow so they need something to do.
Arcticracer you don't need to "create habitat" and any sportsman knows that too. Nature, especially in the Tanana Valley is taking care of that by itself.
alaskastoryteller got it right and that does seem to be the fire suppression tactic used in the last 15 years. Let it burn itself out and wait for rain or snow.
My hunch is that there is some "free money" around in a grant or something behind it.

JB I think you are wrong in your thinking. Eliminating the down payment money (with this program) is the very first step to putting someone in a property they can not afford. Maintaining a perfect credit score is quite easy if you don't have debt which is your analogy.
When folks can not afford a property creative "assistance" if you prefer that term will generally lead them directly to a path of failure. It will also consume any and all of their disposal income which will start the cycle. There are exceptions of course, but very few.
Credit card debt is a better example. Buy today even if you do not have the $$ ... pretty soon you have a nice debt of $3-10,000 and almost everyone will never be able to pay it off. Had the same person waited to buy as they could afford they would be in a much better position today and likely have a few $$ in the bank.

Aidey, you and AKSHEEP should get together and see if you can come up with a full set of DNA ... lol. Are you from the same gene pool? Do you folks also support drunk driving?
Watch out ... you'll miss the mother ship when it comes in to take you folks away. And, you only get one departure pass.

So what? This is a business and they should not get a handout from the state. I want one too, anyone else want a handout if FHR gets one? Why don't they ask BP for a subsidy? They would get laughed at.
It sounds to me like you're blowing the North Pole horn and wanting the state to subsidize FHR for your benefit, not for Alaska or Fairbanks.

Too funny. All the fires we have and now the need to practice???
And a nice location too ... more free smoke for Fairbanks. What, in the name of the stupid, will these people come up with next .... practice riots, killings, strikes ... no limit I guess.
And the midget mentality about enhanced habitat is a real stretch.

These loans and programs are one of the major contributing factors in the current mortgage crisis. Sucking in people who know they can not afford home ownership.
Finding creative ways to move people into something they really can not afford is a waste of my money as a taxpayer and a liability later when we have to deal with the inevitable.
All of these do-gooder jerks need to go die some place and quite doing this. The rule is that this fails and the exception is that it actually produces the desired effect.

If it were up to "parents" to teach a kid to get food 90% would starve to death or get lost on the way to the store. Most parents are a real POS (maybe 95%) when it comes to teaching responsibility and parenting. They simply don’t care and just talk the talk … be good Johnny.
Just look at the mess in the schools ... and they have slowly become the teachers of today. Every generation is a little worse.
Just look at the absolute garbage on TV ... a product of the schools and parenting ...
Now you want them to actually be careful on an ATV and, gasp, wear a helmet .... you're nuts!
