Floodgal: I'm with you!! My husband and I are building a home right now and half of our property is in a flood zone, and the insurance is ridiculous!!! We had another piece of property lined up that I loved, but that was in an even worse flood zone and we couldn't afford that insurance.

Does the news miner really have no other letters to the editor with a different topic, everyone bickered over Obama yesterday in "obama listens" now it's "obama cares". Lets move on
On Obama cares

You know every morning when I get to work, this is the first site I go to because I think everyone logged on here educates me in some way each time. It's really quite impressive some of the knowledge some people research just to prove another wrong. But has anyone noticed that THIS topic has been repeated at least 3 times a week, with the same arguments, I wish we could move past this. I personally don't agree with the Bush administration but they will be gone soon, and as soon as we pick a new President who makes a decision on what to do about the war and economy we can all start arguing and tearing that administration apart, until then, there are so many more productive discussions we could be having. Just my opinion though.

John was a really good friend of mine and he dated my best friend in junior high. So I was devastated when I heard about what happened. But everyone on here is saying either racism or NO EVIDENCE at all put them in jail, well I agree with Gopking "3 separate juries hearing the same facts convicted those three. Enough is enough. Thirty-six people from Anchorage, who knew nothing of these men, convicted them based upon the evidence presented - and presented in accordance with the Alaska Rules of Evidence." I am sad if those boys spent one second in cell paying for a crime they did not commit, but our legal system is now and always has been flawed. There are more than just these boys being punished cruelly for crimes they didn't do.
On Hartman case

Regardless if it was a photo op or not, she was out there, and if she did just "show up and pose with a rake" don't you think some of those workers would comment about this article??

My husband and I are spending a lot of money to make sure the house we are building is 5*+ is it even worth it now? We thought that it would pay for itself eventually but now I'm wondering if it's even worth the extra time and money.
On Thanks GVEA

I was sitting behind the sign, it was great, the show was amazing, there were a couple songs I was sad that he didn't sign, but then you sit back and realize someone just entertained you for two and a half hours with nothing but his voice and a piano. It was AMAZING!!!

I use to feel bad when I would go to the transfer site and see people digging through god knows what, but I have to agree with everyone here that in the past few years it has gotten really ridiculous. I was helping my father bring his broken lawn mower to the dump the other weekend, and two guys jumped into the back of the truck while we were still moving! I do know a person that has been going to the dump for years because he fixes old pinball machines for a living and finds antique parts in the dump all the time, but these people that are making it outright dangerous are going to ruin it for everyone else by forcing the city to ban dumpster diving.

I agree with alaskastoryteller, I can't imagine how hard it would be to have to depend on anything or anyone other than myself to get around, let alone have whatever arrangement you finally get comfortable with changed.
