What would be the cost differential to build a high tension line from the Slope to Fairbanks? Use the gas on site to run a power plant in the giga-watt range. Would it be cheaper to send electricity instead of gas to the Interior?
Ask the Mexican and Venezulan people how well "state-owned" refineries work. Business only works when profit is an incentive. If not, you end up with a mess like just about anything else the government does.

As far as the "rich" paying their "fair share"? According to the IRS, the top 1% of all taxpayers pay 40% of all tax receipts, while the bottom 50% pay a whopping 3%. This is "fair"?

I mis spoke in saying since he became president no attacks on US. I meant to say since 9/11. The decision to attack us, and training and planning to do so started long before W was sworn in.

Bush had actual executive experience as governor of a large state, and could in fact point to real accomplishments in office. Am I a Bush supporter? Yes, on some things but not on others. He has been a disaster from a conservative perspective for allowing government to grow so much on his watch. He should have ran out of ink more than once vetoing spending bills. But he did not. Going into Iraq can be debated, with good arguments on both sides, but staying the course, and putting people like Gen. Petraeus in charge was the right thing to do. Wiretapping suspected terrorists worked, and saved the Brooklyn bridge. "Aggressive interrogation" of terrorists? Well, if it saves American cities, keep doing it.
However, you cannot argue with the fact that we have NOT had any more attacks on US soil since he became president. Aggressive pursuit of our enemies has worked. Obama's "talks" with Ahmadinejad will not stop him from nuking Israel, any more than talking with Saddam would have stopped him from gassing the Kurds. Sometimes, war IS the answer. It just depends on the question. Ask any Holocaust survivor what they think about it.

What has Obama actually achieved to be so "inspiring"? What actual accomplishments can he point to and say, "I will do more of this"? Voting "present" 130 times in the Illinois legislature? Not chairing any meetings of his Senate committee for Afghanistan, nor visiting that country until recently? Yes, he gives wonderful, ringing speeches. People believe in him just because of who they perceive him to be, not because of his resume. There has been more than one "leader" in the 20th century who came to power the same way, and very bad things resulted. Obama IS inspiring to people everywhere who thinks "smart" people in government should make decisions for the rest of us, and inspiring for people who want something free. As for the rest of us, he just plain scares the s@#$ out of us.

What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."
This is the kind of stuff Barak H. and Michelle Obama listened to for two decades. It sounds an awful lot like Muslims saying Allah wants them to kill the infidels.

Obama may not be a Muslim, but he sure looks like a a Marxist. Curtis has a good suggestion. Educate yourself. Research this guy. The truth is out there. His dad was a Marxist agitator in the 1960's in Kenya. His mentor growing up was Frank Marshall Davis, Marxist. He was trained in Saul Alinsky agitation tactics by Mike Kruglik. Of course, everyone has heard the Marxist rants of Jeremiah Wright, whom Obama listened to faithfully for 20 years. And then there's Bill Ayers, who was proudly bombing the Pentagon while John McCain was being tortured by the North Vietnamese. This unrepentent Marxist terrorist served on the board of The Woods Fund with Obama. Among other things, this organization, supposedly dedicated to helping the poor, invested $1 million in slumlord Tony Rezko's business. So, is Obama a Marxist? Either he is, or he has the worst judgment of any modern candidate, to associate himself so closely and for so long to these enemies of American freedom.
Is McCain an ideal choice for president. No way. He has lots of shortcomings. I will have to hold my nose to vote for him, but I would rather have him in the oval office at a time of war and with a worldwide energy crisis ahead of us, than a Marxist that thinks more government is the answer, and who appears to be running for president of the world instead of president of the United States.

This is the kind of "alternative energy" project that we, the USA need to be pursuing in a big way, not just the Air Force. A much better idea than T. Boone's wind and natural gas powered car nonsense. There is a LOT of coal in Alaska, Montana and other states. Every barrel of diesel and heating oil made from coal is a barrel we don't have to buy from thugs and dictators. Want to cause regime change in Iran and Russia without war? Drop the price of oil. Of course "environmental groups" oppose this. They are BANANA's - Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere. Windmills? Can't build transmission lines because it might 'harm the environment' or the windmills themselves would spoil Ted Kennedy's view.
On Appropriations bill includes $10 million for liquid coal project
