you know what.... I am not legally able to post to this Topic on Loving Fairbanks..because I do not qualify since I do not live in Fairbanks ..however.. let me say this much... I love Fairbanks because its closer than Anchorage... (smile) but I dont love it enough to live there.... since I have my own home and love my own small town............ but IF I were to live in Fairbanks..what I love about it is that its spread out and HOMEY-ISH and where can you go and see and meet people from your own small town and catch up on things you don't in your own home town!! LOL... and I love meeting people I already know in Fairbanks in the stores or what have you other places....... its a SMALL SMALL world out there when you VISIT Fairbanks :)

As an avid Bicyclist here is my reasons for using the highway in my town.
1)I ride to get to work to help save fuel in my truck. I am low income and need to save where I can.
2)I bike to get my excersize to lose weight and be physically fit because I have foot problems associated with walking.
3)I cannot adequately workout on my bike doing the speed and distance I need on the bike path. Too many driveways to cross where I have almost been hit because I couldnt see the exiting vehicle due to the tree line bordering the bike path blocking my view into the driveways, which makes me have to slow down to almost a stop before moving on. This breaks the cadence i need to maintain the speed and power when working out. I do not have to worry about that on the highway
4)If I am obeying the law by staying as far to the right of the shoulder as I can without running off into the ditch.. and you are worried about hitting me.. YOU are the one we need to all worry about if you cannot stay in YOUR lane while driving. Other vehicle drivers other than biking people would need to keep an eye out for you as well.. you are a danger to the human race if you cannot stay on your lane as it is.
5) to Parents of children of any age on bikes. Are you aware of what your kids are doing while riding their bikes? I do.. I see them riding down the main lane where vehicles are suppose to be.. and then when they hear or see a car coming.. you know what they do? they switch over to the OTHER lane going the wrong direction and riding two abreast until the vehicle passes..its YOUR kids that are giving us law abiding bikers a bad name.
6)the bike path is a scary place to be at night and in the wee hours of the morning from dangers of man and animal alike. I prefer to be up on the highway where I can SEE a long ways what is around me and if need be turn around and go the other direction..I cannot do that on the bike path in time to save my life if I have to. The tree line is too close to the path for comfort. After a deranged man attempted to beat and rape a local young woman in broad daylight one year as she walked on the bike path, I have never felt safe on it since. Allow me to make my choice where to bike thankyou.
7) If you are one of the complainers.. please move back to the lower 48 where people have no freedom hardly anymore. I live in Alaska for the freedom to do what I like to do within the Laws.... don't bring it up here too!! Stay home if you want it that bad.
have a good summer folks!

That is such a kewl thing. I don't know how some people do it though. I would get too attached and not want to let them go..even though I know its for a good cause. :) I highly respect people that can do that and go on to another dog and keep the training going and providing dogs for people that need them. What an honorable thing to do! :)
Good Job!

Just a sign of the times.... the great USA.. FREEDOM of Choice (yah right!! NOT!!) ...next thing we know we will be told what we are to wear and eat per day. All the more power to Homeschoolers!!! Its the best way to go! At least we can pray in our own home (for now anyhow.. soon that will be taken away from us too!) So folks.. do it while you can...the times are rolling to a screaching halt ...

Radio collar? I wouldnt put a collar on that wolf until it was healed.. the collar would fall into the deep wound and not only cause further stress on the physical neck of the wolf but the skin as it tried to heal would grow around the collar ... same as the snare. A collar would NOT be a good idea at this time.

.... I am always for a rescue of this nature for most things.. sometimes I think though that we get our human emotions involved too much before letting nature take its course that WILL end in death before giving it a chance. Not knowing the situation anymore than the article describes.. if the ledge is insurmountable to its escape in order to survive..that to me is reason enough to rescue it... but if it can get off the ledge on its own I'd say monitor it and see how its acting .. goats like many herbivores can readily eat hay and grass and solids quite soon after birth and the young goat kid could be fine other than predators getting it.
My belief is this. God gave man the authority (Dominion) over all the creatures of the world..therefore I feel that if He did that..that also means we have the right to make that decision to HELP or to turn our heads. While 'Law' says NO to most wildlife help..I disagree that they are always right in every circumstance.. I think WE as the CARETAKERS of the living on this earth have the rights to apply to the Fish and Game for helping a wild creature without TOO MUCH trouble to help where we can.
I really dislike how F & G laws make it so impossible that they have the RULING on all wildlifes welfare.. I think WE as the people should be able to help where we can at least GIVE IT A CHANCE to live before NATURE takes its course...
Im all for helping the little goat if it truly needs it :c)
