I think if the guy had Francis the Mule or Mr. Ed testify in his behalf , he would have been found innocent in the first place (I knew this guy looked familiar) ... but then again, in Florida - they only believe what they want to believe when it comes to circumstantial elements of a pertaining case...

So finally a government agency gets hit on a theft once again, but here is the philosophy....

It's OK for the government to STEAL (upon wrongful seizures, penalties, interest, surcharges, overtaxation, cuts in benefits-assistance-services already paid for by the people, perjury, forgery, hindering, etc....

However if the government determines that YOU or any other party had ever taken a grain of salt from them without having it accounted for - they will surely prosecute YOU to the fullest extent !!!

When a individual or a business gets ripped off , sometimes law enforcement will 'look into the matter' or 'take a report' with little or no resources to the assigned tasks ....

When any level of government agency owned establishment has any value of goods or property stolen, they will throw in unlimited resources into the matter and prosecute much harder - and thus finally pass stricter laws or increase harsher punishment for the crime(s) involved - (they only enact when they get ripped off or when a conflict of interest interrupts their own scams as no legislation enforcement exists for tougher sanctions when repeating thefts occur to us individuals and other business owners)...

It's like GEE, Fairbanks just had to have a NEEEEWWWWWWWW courthouse, but what good is that when we have a jailhouse that holds only 200+ people when over 1200 crooks/crackheads remain and run amok all over this valley ripping US individuals off ....when they should convert the damn courthouse building into a jail instead -and should have made the Polaris Building as the new courthouse in the first place.

Just another prime example of government wasting taxpayers money while they can budget for new buildings, upgrade new furniture, increase salaries, spend trillions in war, but yet make budget cuts pertaining to public assistance, benefits, recreation facilities....

Guess its more important to have a new chair and a gavel for a judge rather than to keep a park open since they dont have a budget for someone to cut the grass so we gotta close the park down to trim spending.

I feel for anyone getting fuel or anything else stolen and the way this American system is set up - the stealing is going to get much worse as the future is looking dimmer for mankind... and by the way - I have one judge named RUGER and a prosecutor named REMINGTON if anyone attempts to rip me off...with speedy trial.

Although the old roller rink at Two Dice Pawn was a little before my time , I do remember eating at the Pizza Pub which had great pizza (although I thought Shakeys and Mafia Mikes was better)

Polar Roller lasted a long time which surprised me cuz of the location , my fondest memory of there was when I seen Blue Oyster Cult perform there (we made our way thru a buckled part of the fence and gotten in for free)

Chucky Cheese was a kewl place for the younger kids and it fit the attire for the family , unlike that crappy 'The Center' place ... the only thing I liked about The Center was their bowling alley as it wasnt a problem to open bowl anytime in the year as lanes were always available over 90 percent of the time .... Dennis Wise and his partners kinda had the idea right which was needed - on a all in one family orientated entertainment facility (although including a bar) , but the problem was the other facilities were rather small and congested and crammed together (arcade-rink-theatre-etc.) as the place never ever reinvented itself or promoted any special events (take a lesson from Las Vegas and they will show ya how its done) making it just a 'same ol hangout week after week that got boring real quick'.

The last time I stepped foot in The Center was when Molly Hatchet performed there , and the sound system sucked while the atmosphere turned dismal - they couldnt wait to finish their gig...those guys put on a really great show too when they played elsewhere cuz I seen them perform live before.

Rollerblading is the closest craze now as roller skating isnt as popular anymore as Sherry29 mentioned.

Floyd is into getting roller skating back in Fairbanks like I am into getting more bowling alleys in Fairbanks - we dont have enough of them or any other family entertainment in this town other than a ice rink , billiard hall and a movie theatre .... pretty sad when the number one most established business of entertainment in town is going to some bar.

I have known Floyd for many years and this is his passion to make a better community for Fairbanks while promoting roller skating as he has numerous times paid out of pocket expenses and countless time to fulfill this dream of a permanent roller rink as he loves the sport so much - this man has struggled financially barely making a living for himself and has no gain other than seeing a fulfillment of a roller skating rink make a comeback to the Fairbanks area ....

Everyone has their bases covered upon all the replies on this topic , and although I even mentioned to Floyd about the insurance rates and liabilities which would kill a roller skating establishment's overhead alone , and my opinion is the only way of roller skating making a true comeback in this area is to have an established roller derby league like Non_Lemming just mentioned .....

What better facility to have one in occupying a roller skating rink on a part time basis like the Carlson Center - its centrally located at that and the rink would be already setup the day before and after the event(s) to take place while the public can skate on the same roller rink as their counterpart semi pro leagues do.... it would be nice to have some roller derby league with a bunch of thugs goin at it and yet its very entertaining.. (I seen the LA Thunderbirds pro team in their prime live at the Olympic Auditorium in 1974 and I was certainly hooked on roller derby)

The supplemental insurance rate will be obsorbed better as the promotional value would be priceless if the Carlson Center would have a part time public roller rink outing with an already established place with insurance coverage while admission prices would make it affordable ....

How many more alcohol related incidents (tragic and non tragic) is it going to take for people to stop being irresponsible ? (10-55 and 10-56) - The answer is ZERO TOLERENCE, however all levels of federal and state governments refuse to enforce this answer....

WHY DO WE ASK ? - Simple , its because of parting away peoples money and the american economy ! Alcohol is such a moneymaker directly and indirectly.

Court systems make a mint in all alcohol related incidents (DUIS-domestic violence-civil lawsuits-etc.)

Insurance companies make more money to insure irresponsible drivers by paying SR-22 premiums for concurrent months while they 'donate' some portions of money back to lawmakers and law enforcement in order to keep their cash cow goin...

Auto makers also benefit by sales of parts for damaged vehicles and by selling more vehicles caused by drunk drivers when they total one or more vehicles in any major accident...

Businesses also benefit by impounding vehicles, repairing vehicles such as auto body and auto repair shops, liquor stores selling the products for a profit...

Governments even benefit by imposing federal, state, and sales taxes, plus incarceration of repeat offenders by funding contracts to house them paid by us taxpayers (in which the alcoholics already paid their way to live in jail by buying the tax imposed products that got them there)...

Medical field also benefits by treating all wounds and broken body parts of individuals in alcohol related accidents and domestic violence caused by alcohol, and the alcoholics that make it close to senior citizen status age will have more frequent hospital and doctor visits to treat their abuse that finally caught up with them...

Why is it that the government preaches of 'caring for our safety' by enacting these laws and yet allow these first time and repeat offenders still drive behind the wheel - its a proven fact that heavier levies in fines and license revokations do not deter the offender, as long as alcohol exists...In countries like Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Japan will put you to death upon a drunk driving conviction on the FIRST OFFENSE, so it is not tolerated and their alcohol related accident percentage rate is very low compared to the United States in which (is still) 50 percent of all accidents are alcohol related...

Thats why the United States has no regards to saving lives on our highways and roadways... the governments, court systems, insurance companies, medical doctors and hospitals, auto industry, and alcohol industry would rather prosper making money over saving many lives that end up killed by this product called alcohol.

Here are three factors on why this individual recieved his 7 year sentence :

Did not immediately report the involved accident while leaving the scene of the location of where it occured- *GUILTY*

The individual was in FACT driving while intoxicated when the accident happened , and very unfortunate that it was very serious accident in which a injury or fatality was involved- *GUILTY*

This individual was proven as a REPEAT OFFENDER as he was convicted of a prior DWI offense- *GUILTY BY IRRESPONSIBLITY*

The circumstances involved were very unfortunate as the offender and the victim were both at fault in this tragedy, as both individuals abused alcohol by drinking excessive amounts which leads to poor judgement and reaction times while altering body functions.

Alaska Law under its jurisdiction states that any accident over $500 in property damage on public areas (10-50 D), any injury to a person or animal on private property or public areas regardless of location (10-50 I), or any fatality to a person or animal on private property or public areas regardless of location (10-50 F)/(10-79) must be immediately reported or as soon as possible.

It doesnt matter if this victim was already dead, previously ran over before, passed out on the roadway or what have ya- the fact is this drunk driving person ran over and dragged this victim with a vehicle without stopping and reporting it IMMEDIATELY....Any sober person driving forward would have seen debris in the roadway or feel something striking their vehicle on impact if a person or object was not in plain view.....thats called a hit and run folks, regardless if a person driving was sober or not !

Jim Hayes and his church overall has done a lot for the community, however I am saddened by the turn of events upon conviction of the government proving their case ... Fairbanks history proves it has always been based on crooks, and shady business people over the years....

My only beef with Jim Hayes throughout his term of mayor was :

Why on earth would any mayor let someone like Mike Pulice get away with skimming countless labor and overtime hours while he creates a hostile environment for co-workers and abusing power as complaint after complaint was ignored before the situation got out of hand in order to finally deal with it ...

And yet the only action taken was :
'Oh well , I guess we will force him to step down from his position immediately while we still pay him in full for the remaining duration of his contract (like 8 months or something) of $104,000 per year'... sounded like Mike Pulice must have had 'one up' on Jim Hayes over something.

And to this day no one has accounted for all that missing cocaine and cash that was taken from the evidence vault of the police station as supposedly only two people having access to them as Mike Pulice was one person that was authorized...

Jim Hayes let Mike Pulice ride on that hideous turn of events for whatever reason and looking back at that seems real peculier now...

Starting from the current executive branch of government ,trickling down to many Alaska lawmakers (and other states) upon past or present public officials caught in so many scandals and corruption nowadays - the past 9 years alone I witnessed more scam in the USA and Alaska compared to the entire history of Mexico for god sake as they are known as a 'bribe government'. - America is way worse now than ever as politicians are just there for the take anymore while expanding their personal and business interests illegally at will.

While serving as State Governor he signed into law by eliminating the Alaska Senior Citizen Longitivity Bonus for seniors (who paid into social security all their lives unlike US Congress members who dont pay any contributions in their pension plan) that really relied on those bonus checks for basic necessities- while the Governor also restricting, eliminating, or raising fees of other state programs that are structured for the people because of 'budget cuts they cannot afford to sustain' - while imposing for a statewide sales tax and state income tax to increase state revenue not to mention the 'tire tax' to pay for our potholed roads and highways the people constantly drive on while the federal road funds are squeezed tighter for the entire state. Why do these politicians think every citizen has more money than they do in order to pay for more services and improvements that they keep eliminating in 'their budget'.

However he lets the 'cuts they cannot afford to sustain' state budget allow to pay the bills on the leer jet that was purchased for his personal/business use, then complains there isnt enough 'standing room' in it , then takes off in the leer jet after Sarah Palin takes over office cuz he was so onry losing the re-election term that he refuses to pay the bill that the state presented him on the total operation costs of the leer jet he occupied after exceeding his office term -(including the takeoff and landing fees). No wonder he 'Frankrupted' some bank many years ago with this logic way of thinking.

After 15 months since his last term, all the corruption related to him directly is starting to surface now... what nerve he has disputing over a small personal tax bill when he eliminated revenue from all Alaskan Seniors.(shakes head)

On Former governor's railcar, property raise questions about tax structure

Posted on May 4 at 9:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Lets see , Murcowardski disputes the partial property tax exemption denial due to the fact that he claims residency at that railroad car/property. When in fact he never resides there for the minimum 185 days out of the calendar tax year as the regulation clearly states it is a requirement in order to recieve the partial exemption status. If he were living in the dwelling to meet the requirement timeframe, he wouldnt have to pay any property tax on it due to senior citizen exemption status. If the Borough Officials are assessing the dwelling as a permanent structure -upon fact it is not a 'permanent structure with a foundation', then Murcowardski has a case upon reassessment to attempt on lowering the tax bill. Other factors do come into play for 'improvements of the property that are added' whether any non permanent structure dwellings , sheds , clearings , other property improvements around you (area), etc. can actually increase the assessed value.

This 'small tax dispute amount' is coming from a person that gets at least a yearly salary of US Congressional pay for life as a pension from the federal government that I am sure he can easily afford to pay.
