I knew a few of the soldeirs who gave the ultimate sacrifice. My heart goes out to all the families especially Susan's.

Dirk, you are completely right with this:
"I don't see a monument to GW's war. I see a monument that announces lost loved ones, never to return; sons, fathers, husbands, brothers, sisters, mothers, wives, and daughters."

May they all rest in peace.

I'm proud of my baby bro, who graduated this year. And to all those who boo-hoo the education system, either do something to change it, or shut up!

I think it is absolutely ridiculous that anyone would single out the soldiers. It wasn't just servicemen that were keeping the massage parlor in business, was it? If not, then is it really necessary to say that it may bust soldiers? Was there also an article saying "local business men may be in trouble for visiting massage parlor"? Whether or not we should legalize prostitution is for a whole other comment, so I'll keep my opinion to myself on that note. Everyone have a great day!

Honestly there is no real way to make everyone "happy" when it comes for a solution. Living in a community means that you should be thinking about everyone else's rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, as well as your own. YOUR individual rights shouldn't supersede the rights of anyone else. So if you feel that your privacy is being trampled upon because of check points, but it is for the safety of others, really what is more important? Yes, as long as there is alcohol there is going to be drunk drivers, but that doesn’t mean that the safety of my child should be pushed to the side. I am almost always the DD when my friends and I go out. I find that there is no reason that anyone should be drinking and driving. If you can’t afford a taxi, then you shouldn’t be out drinking in the first place. If people don’t have enough personal responsibility, then yes, I think the community has the right to take the safety of others into consideration, before personal privacy.

Sorry, I didn't intend on that being as long as it was.

Newsreader, I have read a lot of your comments to various topics and I have to say you have a severely hasty generalization of all Christians, and organized religion as a whole. You emphasize, in this and related threads, that Christians are non-tolerant bigots, and I have to say that is simply not true. I am an outstanding example of that. JUST because I don't agree with anyone being gay doesn't mean that I hate them or even belittle them at all. I simply just don't agree with it. Just like I don't agree with you seeming to be so hateful to Christians for our beliefs, I don't hate you for it.

You also blame the present day church for misconducts in the past. That would be the same as blaming you for whatever misdeeds your ancestors did in the past! That seems to be an unintelligent argument.

And as far as your friend who is bisexual and was "was ostracized, picked on, bullied, and had friends who were attacked." I have a bit of a problem with this because growing up I knew a lot of girls who claimed bisexuality, and none of them really had a problem with other high school students. I find that the only high school students that really have a problem with anything and voice it to where it would be disruptive, would do so against anyone with anything different about them. Could it be that your friend was bullied for other reasons than sexual orientation? Not that I condone bullying for any reason.

I do have to say that I appreciate your comments and enthusiasm. The world would be a desperately boring place if everyone thought alike.

But for the subject of this letter. Everyone should be allowed to say, or not say for that matter, what they believe in. If students think that a DOS will instigate more tolerance, then more power to them for exercising that right!
