DeeDee Hammond, newsroom graphics designer and artist, spends her days doodling. Her background is in printing, typography and visual arts. She learned her trade as an intern in the News-Miner's printer apprenticeship program 27 years ago and developed many of her artistic techniques while attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks. DeeDee, a vegetarian and wannabe vegan wonders why cheese has to taste so darn good. She is a member of the Alaska Bird Observatory, the Fairbanks Animal Shelter Fund, the Fairbanks Arts Association and the Fairbanks Watercolor Society.
