Lindsay Lohan gets political on blog, sounds off on Palin

NEW YORK -- Lindsay Lohan is getting political.

The 22-year-old actress took to her MySpace blog Tuesday to post her thoughts on Republican John McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and the revelation that Palin's unmarried 17-year-old daughter is pregnant.

"I've been watching the news all morning, like everyone else - and (I) keep hearing about the issues related to 'teen pregnancy.' ... Well, I think the real problem comes from the fact that we are taking the focus off of getting to know Sarah Palin and her political views, and what she can do to make our country a less destructive place," Lohan wrote.

Lohan suggested Palin "focus on delivering some words and policy with stronger impact like Joe Biden," Democrat Barack Obama's running mate.

The actress, who will guest star on ABC's "Ugly Betty" this season, then put out a plea to parents.

"I think that parents need to recognize how important it is to talk to their children about the things that can result from being sexually active if they aren't protecting themselves (birth control, condoms, etc.)," she wrote.

Lohan's blog has become a sounding board for her this summer. She lashed out at her father Michael on her blog last Thursday, calling him a "public embarrassment" after he said in an interview with E! that Lohan gal pal Samantha Ronson was "using" his daughter.

She's also used her blog to recommend music (Annie Lennox's "Walking on Broken Glass," was a pick) and search for a particular ice cream.

Lohan's publicist, Leslie Sloane-Zelnik, earlier confirmed Lohan had written the post about her father, but did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the latest entry.

Why, why, why is this news?

This is the last person that should be giving advice on anything, let alone responsibility, political issues, etc. What exactly qualifies her of all people? Ridiculous...

How are we doing in Iraq? How many more banks have failed this week? How many trillions of dollars is it going to take to bail out Fannie and Freddie? What is the US doing about the Russian invasion in eastern Europe? How about Israel and Iran? The price of oil is falling faster than I can spend my resource rebate, is this going to cause problems for the state budget surplus?

I don't know the answer to any of the above but now I know that Lindsay Lohan put her Palin opinion on her Facespace!

Good grief. This is one more reason to save my money and opt for a WSJ subscription over the DNM.

Maybe Dermot should call Lindsay and start up a fan club...I agree with EVERYONE who has already posted...what's going on with our Troops abroad, the hurricanes, etc. Why does our news media (newspapers, cbs, nbc, abc, etc) continue to give these 'girls/children' any airtime and print space at all?!?

Come on guys, lighten up. This is America, anyone can have an opinion and it doesn't have to be an informed opinion either. Look on the positive side - she does know who is on the republican ticket.

Jeez first you read it and then you post about how useless it was. Are you the same folks who take the time to respond to surveys with "no comment"?
