Woman sues Wasilla police over vehicle crash

Published Monday, August 4, 2008

WASILLA -- A woman hurt in a traffic crash has sued the Wasilla Police Department, claiming officers partially caused the incident by chasing the car that rammed her.

Jennifer Setters' lawsuit was filed against the city of Wasilla, its police department and former police chief John Glass.

Wasilla police were involved in a chase of a drunken driver Aug. 11, 2006, when the vehicle being chased crossed the meridian and hit her sport-utility vehicle head-on.

Setters claims in her lawsuit that the department is liable because they knew the area would be highly congested during rush hour.

Both Wasilla Police Chief Angella Long and Glass, now the acting commissioner of state Department of Public Safety, declined comment.

The driver hit you because he was driving drunk not because police were trying to chase him down to get him off the roads.
What a litigious society when our police get sued for trying to help the rest of us.
    Pathetic

This woman has clearly suffered massive head trauma. Maybe the doctors will wrap her head in gauze and stop her mouth with it. You have to be kidding me. The drunk driver instigated the chase by trying to run in the first place, and this woman is a greedy crazy who must thrive off of blaming other people for her problems.

Jennifer Setters, if you win this lawsuit, you will open a Pandora's box of legality that will make our roads unsafe, reckless or drunk drivers look like martyrs, and our officers' jobs impossible. Are you serious?

Maybe the taxpayers in Wasilla can sue her (to recover costs) for bringing a frivolous lawsuit against the police?

mdak06 speaks the truth! WHY CAN'T THEY?!?!?! (taxpayers sue Jennifer Setters)

that legal door can swing BOTH ways.

She obviously is opposed to Police pulling over drunk drivers especially if they don't want to stop, and so is ENDANGERING the entire community by depriving the local law enforcement of much needed funds spent to appease her GREED. Money they could be spending on saving lives by pulling over and arresting drunk drivers.

Thanks to mrs/ms Setters, it's probably now okay to get drunk and run from the cops in Wasilla.
