80-90 isnt that fast, especially for the corner that this happened on.

As PanoMan said, this was no "accident". This was drinking and driving.

    anon123,

The article mentions two things that are, I think germain, the rider was "traveling at speeds estimated at 80 to 90 mph when the driver lost control about 1 a.m... (and) Alcohol was determined to be a contributing factor". The fact remains that a car crash at 80 to 90 mph can kill you and a crash at a much lower speed if you've consumed alcohol can kill you.

There are lots of people who ride motorcycles and I'd be willing to bet you that most of them have enough sense to refrain from riding when they are "under the influence". Since you ask me to be nice, I will try but the fact remains that he made those decisions all by himself - there's no one else to blame but himself. I'm sorry for his family, Mom, Dad, Wife or Friend, any Children he leaves behind.

Our thoughts and prayers are w/the family.
however, 80-90 is not fast on a bike on that particular road, heck, i can hit +80 in second gear, 4 more gears to keep red-lining.
    i agree w/brianbb98

How terrible for this man's family.

Whether or not "80-90 mph" is "that fast" for any particular area it's still TOO FAST, as in "speeding".

No matter the circumstances, someone died, which leaves a family in mourning. Please keep your rude, insensitive comments to yourself. We all know that drinking and driving don't mix, and we know that this man's family is suffering because of a mistake he made. Please, let them grieve without adding to their pain.

I believe this is my cousins son...her second and youngest son. Both sons were lost to alcohol related accident. Remembrances were give to M.A.D.D. the first time around. The sorrow and pain that this family has gone through is undescribable. You have no idea!

"One less stupid biker to worry about. Too bad he wasn't smart enough to keep himself alive."

When your brother has died...when you can walk in someone elses shoes...then you can judge...until then..well, I hope you never go through what this family has gone through.

"PanoMan is right, these people think they are invincible on these things". Believe me he didn't think he was invincible.

"dran it... ruined my day not letting me comment on gas.. *sigh* will have to think of some other life altering comment..."

Maybe you'll get your chance someday. Poor you.

Thanks to everyone else who understands.

My boyfriend worked with this man, and some of you people have no tact. Its time to grow up. Alcohol or not, he was still someones SON, and BROTHER. Lets remember that they are grieving and we should all be a little nicer. Yes, It is sad he choose to drive drunk. But that doesnt stop the fact his family is still saddened by this accident.

"Alcohol was determined to be a contributing factor."

It doesn't say he was drunk does it? Lets stop jumping to conclusions.

Well this is obviously a subject I should stay away from, that's for sure. What is so sad was this entire event was 100% avoidable. It never should have happened to anyone.

I love it- lets blame the DNM for the comments...I guess only the motorcycle rider is supposed to be responsible for his actions. The rest of can pin reponsibility on the DNM.

I had hoped that the community would want to express sympathy to the family for a death -- I expected a little discussion on the accident, but am saddened at the lack of general civility. I'm turning these off.
