JUNEAU -- A commission appointed by Juneau Mayor Bruce Botelho will take a look at the response to the avalanches that destroyed and damaged several Snettisham hydropower transmission line towers in April.

The three-member Lessons Learned Commission expects to produce a report by the beginning of September.

The panel - chaired by former Juneau mayor, Sally Smith - aims to gather information to help residents and infrastructure managers prepare and better respond to future emergencies.

Commission meetings are set for the evenings of June 25 and July 2 at City Hall.
