Doyon Ltd. announced this week it has picked Aaron Schutt as its new chief operating officer. Schutt already served as a senior vice president for the Alaska Native corporation.

“I have known Aaron for many years. We work well together, and I’m glad he accepted the position,” Doyon president Norm Phillips said in a news release. “I look forward to working with him as Doyon continues to diversify and grow.”

Doyon is one of 13 corporations formed through the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act and has more than 16,000 shareholders, the company reported.

A VERY good choice for Doyon. It should have happened months ago. Aaron is a class act. Just what Doyon needs.

Aaron is young, Native, educated, smart, and caring; a real square.
He will do great. (We can always hope).

treat it like a business and he'll do fine, If you start treating it like a hiring center and start hiring untrained and inexperienced workers to fill a quota you will go backwards, all should be trained/experienced employees who fill all positions!

remember that profits benefit all the shareholders, our reputation will be at stake if we cannot compete with other bigger companies who have experiece and safety as a top priority.

our goal is to become much bigger and more profitable to benefit all shareholders, that takes good leadership and smart choices for the future. to the great future on the horizen.

WHO CARES???Everything was handed to DOYON on a silver platter by our government. You don't have to bid competively on Govenment jobs. They're just handed to you, free of charge. A well trained Husky could run it.

Well I care about our lands and people, not any State corporation. Didn't Ted Stevens provide that competitive process, don't think he is Native. Just saw a way to make this State more productive, and it is small to what was taken from us. And it was not handed to anyone in our Native world, your folks took all of our traditional lands and resources, killed our people relentlessly, and your government, our government just gave back table scraps. I wish Aaron good luck, it's not easy and it shouldn't be. If he were a true leader he would be fighting to get our Hunting and Fishing Rights back and kick the State off Native owned lands, and stop letting them mismange it.

Hey "jay t" you have to remember, "it's never given, you have to take it." The Alaska Native people weren't handed all of this on a silver platter, they had to fight for it. If you really want to find out about it read, "take my land, take my life." After you do that, maybe i'll be inclined to pay attention to your ignorant comments.

Maybe all us whitey's should just leave and take our electricity and airplanes and TVs and Snow Machines and Cars and Boats and guns and Light Bulbs and refineries and $$$ with us.

You have to admit - Whitey has invented and introduced to Alaska many of the comforts you now enjoy. Maybe its time to quit feeling so put upon, stop whining about how everyone has screwed ya, and start to contribute a little more yourselves instead of waiting for another handout!

Honestly - why do you even care about Doyon? Oh - cause if they would figure out a way to actually run the corporation correctly you would get a bigger handout!

akguy.... you are in as much need of education on Alaska native people as Jay T. You likely have no idea just how much the Alaska Native community contributes. We don't all stand around looking for handouts. We are caring, positive contributing people. We contribute greatly to the economics of this community and statewide.
