Brown files to run against Ramras in House District 10

Published Tuesday, May 20, 2008

JUNEAU -- John Brown of Fairbanks has officially filed with the state’s Division of Elections to run for the Alaska House in District 10.

“I’m just not satisfied with the quality of the representation House District 10 has been getting,” Brown said in a written statement.

The seat is held by Rep. Jay Ramras, a Republican.

Brown, a Democrat, worked for 33 years in the construction industry and retired earlier this year from Operating Engineers Local 302, where he worked as business agent. As of April 1, Brown had already raised more than $10,000 for his campaign, mostly from labor unions.

Mike Behner has joined Schaeffer Cox in the race for House District 7, a seat held by Rep. Mike Kelly. All three are Republicans from Fairbanks.

Behner ran against Kelly in the Republican primary in 2006 and won 38 percent of the vote.

Candidates have until June 2 to register with the state.

I can't wait to vote Ramras out of office. At this point I would vote for my neighbors dog if it was my only other option.
