ANCHORAGE -- Jeff King has taken the lead in the All Alaska Sweepstakes.

Lance Mackey, fresh of another Iditarod win, had been leading the more than 400-mile sled dog race between Nome and Candle, but King, of Denali Park, moved into the lead Thursday.

King likely is looking for revenge. He came in second this year in the Iditarod.

King had the faster team, but Mackey, of Fairbanks, sneaked out of a checkpoint toward the latter part of the race, grabbing the lead. King couldn't catch him after that.

Sonny Lindner of Two Rivers was in third place. Ed Iten of Kotzebue was in fourth.

Musher Hugh Neff of Skagway has scratched.

The race is being run on its 100th anniversary.
