Fairbanks musher Lance Mackey warms his hands over his cooker Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race checkpoint in Circle. Mackey was the first musher to leave Slaven's Cabin, 58 miles up the Yukon River from Circle.
