First Traditional Chief of the Athabascan people of the Interior of Alaska David Salmon blesses a wooden stake he made for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitor Center on Wednesday afternoon, May 30, 2007. The stake, which was signed by members of the Athabascan community, was driven into the ground in the middle of the building site to be forever a part of the new center.
