Trystan Herriott drops a baited hook into the Tanana River while fishing for the bottom-feeding Burbot on Friday afternoon, Nov. 30, 2007, at sunset. Herriott, a geologist by profession, said he catches an average of one fish per day using several long poles rigged with ten hook sets. “It can be very exciting, but it can also be pretty bleak and cold,” said Herriott.
