Transportation officials took steps last week to advance a reroute almost 20 miles of train track in Fairbanks, North Pole and in between. The group, the Fairbanks Metropolitan Area Transportation Systems Policy Committee, voted Wednesday to set aside $1 million apiece for two legs of a reroute project, one that has sent a charge through parts of town over the past year.
