The 22nd annual Fairbanks Summer Folk Festival was held Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Pioneer Park. The large audience of music-lovers included young, old and in-between, and everyone enjoyed the beautiful day and 30 performing acts on the main stage. The festival provides an opportunity for musicians to perform on a professional stage, and for those unable to attend, the event was broadcast live on KUAC.
The Fairbanks Sumer Folk Festival, held Saturday, June 14, 2008, was attended by an estimated 2,000 music-lovers, including Richard Sisson and "Bird." The day was beautiful and attendees enjoyed the music of 30 performing acts on the main stage at Pioneer Park. The Fairbanks North Star Borough Department of Parks and Recreation sponsored the event, partnering with the Fairbanks Folk Festival. Two folk music festivals are held each year, the winter event in February and the summer event in June.
