The Pole on the Point in front of the Totem Bight clan house in Ketchikan, Alaska, lies on the ground June 27, 2008, after being carefully lowered by Brian Nicholas and his crew. The pole, which is more than 60 feet tall and 60 years old, is to be restored. Its structural integrity was in question according to Mike Schroeder, an engineer with the State Parks in Anchorage.
