Starting at about 9 a.m. there were several hundred people in line at First Presbyterian Church today for Thanksgiving food boxes. The line extended from the church outside across the parking lot.

About 1,000 boxes with a full Thanksgiving dinner are expected to be picked up today.

The doors opened at 10 a.m. for the food boxes, which are picked up throughout the day by volunteers driving from the food bank to the church on Cushman Street.

About 40 to 50  volunteers from the church are expected to help out today, Pastor Andy Ekblad said.

First Presbyterian regularly serves as  a distribution point on Wednesdays. Tonight, the church holds its regular Wednesday evening meal, known as “The Well,” which is open to anyone. It starts at 6 p.m. in the basement.
