Public safety report - Nov. 24
The Public Safety Report is compiled from criminal complaints filed in state and federal courts, as well as some police blotter information, trooper dispatches, fire department reports and interviews with public safety officials. Individuals named as arrested and/or charged with crimes in this report are presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
Assault
• Robert Kyle Alexander, 22, of Fairbanks, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly punched his ex-girlfriend in the face Aug. 25 near the downtown footbridge.
• Clyde Faron Boyd, 51, of Fairbanks, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly struck someone in the head with a plastic figurine on Saturday.
• Morris T. Demoski, 31, of Fairbanks, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly tried to hit his girlfriend’s twin sister on Saturday.
• Dereck Luis Reeves, 20, of Fairbanks, was charged with two counts of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly shoved his girlfriend and threatened to stab another man on Saturday.
• Gideon Alexander Schwartz, 21, of Fort Wainwright, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly punched someone in the face on Sunday.
• Brian Matthew Scott, 41, of Fairbanks, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly punched another man in the face July 22 near a Palace Circle Drive home.
Court documents alleged the other man was following Scott, who was driving a van, when Scott stopped suddenly in the middle of the road. Scott then followed the other man to his home where he allegedly assaulted him.
• Rebeccah J. Scott, 24, of Fairbanks, was charged with fourth-degree assault after she allegedly threw an antenna at her boyfriend on Saturday. She also was charged with criminal mischief for allegedly breaking a window and a CD rack.
• Elizabeth Zalin, 25, of Fairbanks, was charged with fourth-degree assault after she allegedly struck her husband in the face on Saturday.
DUI
• Christopher Bekker, 23, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after Fairbanks police received a report early Sunday morning that he had driven drunk to Reflections. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.147. The legal limit to operate a motor vehicle is 0.08.
• Jeanna Marie Dockter, 46, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after Alaska State Troopers pulled her over Thursday for failing to signal a turn at the intersection of College Road and University Avenue. A chemical test found her breath-alcohol content to be 0.110.
• Ralph Freeze, 64, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after Fairbanks police stopped him late Saturday night for driving without headlights on Cushman Street near 23rd Avenue. Freeze smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech at the time he was arrested, according to a criminal complaint filed in court. He also was charged with refusal to submit to a chemical test.
• Brent Tyler Gunnels, 28, of Fairbanks, was charged with felony driving under the influence after troopers received a report Sunday that he drove his car into a ditch on University Avenue near Airport Way. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.221.
Gunnels was convicted of drunken driving in 2003 and 2006, according to court records.
• Travis David Jarrett, 29, of Fairbanks, was charged with felony driving under the influence after he was stopped for weaving Thursday on Airport Way near Washington Drive. Jarrett smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes and poor balance at the time of his arrest, according to a criminal complaint filed in court. He also was charged with felony refusal to submit to a chemical test.
He was convicted of drunken driving in 2002 and 2006, according to court records.
• Richard Jones, Jr., 25, of Alaska, was charged with driving under the influence after troopers pulled him over for weaving early Sunday morning on Remington Road near Clearwater Road. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.194.
• Pamela Lynn Kehres, 44, of North Pole, was charged with driving under the influence after North Pole police stopped her for failing to signal a turn Saturday at
12 Mile Richardson Highway. A chemical test found her breath-alcohol content to be 0.156. Police found a marijuana pipe and a small amount of marijuana in her pocket during her arrest, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
She also was charged with misdemeanor drugs misconduct.
• George Paul Malamute, 57, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after Fairbanks police found him passed out behind the wheel of his car early Saturday morning on the Johansen Expressway near University Avenue. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.178.
• Ross Jason Osten, 39, of Fort Wainwright, was charged with driving under the influence after Fairbanks police pulled him over for speeding early Saturday morning on Cushman Street near Airport Way. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.164.
• Kenneth Charles Rundle, III, 36, of North Pole, was charged with driving under the influence after North Pole police noticed him driving with a damaged taillight Thursday on Cross Way near Yukon Drive. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.087.
• Angelus Seth, 30, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after Fairbanks police stopped him early Sunday morning for making an improper lane change on Noble Street near Airport Way. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.101.
• Demetrius E. Stamps, 23, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after Fairbanks police witnessed him back into a parked car early Saturday morning on Peger Road near Standard Avenue. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.118.
• William George Vanderpool, 45, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after troopers stopped him Saturday for driving without license plate lights on Geist Road near Thompson Drive. A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.111.
Multiple charges
• A Fairbanks man faces several charges after two of his passengers were hurt following a rollover accident that occurred while he was allegedly drunk.
Luke Soren Hanson, 21, has been charged with two counts of felony third-degree assault and one count of driving under the influence.
Troopers were called Sunday to the scene of the rollover accident on the westbound Parks Highway on-ramp near Airport Way. Both passengers complained of having sore necks after the accident.
A chemical test found Hanson’s breath-alcohol content to be 0.229.
Theft
• Three .22-caliber firearms were reported stolen Sunday. The owner told Fairbanks police the guns were stolen about 10 weeks ago from a car parked at Regal Cinemas. The name of a juvenile suspect was given to police.
• Someone stole a wallet and ammunition Monday morning from a car parked in the 200 block of Turner Street.
• An Army rucksack containing miscellaneous military items was reported stolen out of a car sometime between 1 and 6 a.m. in the 150 block of Gillam Way.
Vandalism
A Fairbanks man is accused of breaking into the Carlson Center to stay warm.
Kenneth D. Baxter, 46, has been charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a class C felony.
Fairbanks police were called to arena Friday morning after a worker discovered a man sleeping in the men’s room, using a table skirt as a blanket.
Two glass windows on the front doors were broken, and it appeared as if a trash can might have caused the damage, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
Baxter told police he had been kicked out of a vehicle the previous night and he went inside the Carlson Center because he was afraid of freezing, according to the complaint. He told police he did not see a nearby pay phone he could have used to call for a ride.
Damage to the glass was estimated at $1,200.
