FAIRBANKS - The Public Safety Report is compiled from criminal complaints filed in state and federal courts, as well as some police blotter information, trooper dispatches, fire department reports and interviews with public safety officials. Individuals named as arrested and/or charged with crimes in this report are presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
Assault
• Robert Sean Bear, 26, of Fairbanks, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly kicked his girlfriend in the back.
• Todd J. Powers, 30, of Salcha, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly choked his wife and threw a phone when she threatened to call police. He also was charged with interfering with the report of a crime involving domestic violence and criminal mischief.
DUI
Angela Lynn Meek, 40, of North Pole, was charged with driving under the influence after North Pole police stopped her for speeding Sunday on Badger Road near Hurst Road. A chemical test found her breath-alcohol content to be 0.154. The legal limit to operate a motor vehicle is 0.08.
Theft
• A soldier told Fairbanks police on Monday that Army cold weather gear was recently stolen from his vehicle. He said that the vehicle was parked at College Collision and Refinish between September and November and also was briefly stored at a friend’s house, according to Fairbanks police records.
• A wallet was reported stolen out of a car Monday on 21st Avenue.
• Fairbanks police received a report Monday that a wallet was stolen Sunday out of a car parked at Regal Cinemas.
Search and rescue
Alaska State Troopers dispatched a helicopter Friday night to assist a man having a medical problem.
The helicopter picked up Stan Niemier, 51, who lives on the south side of the Tanana River near the mouth of the Little Delta River. He was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for treatment.
