Public Safety Report — Nov. 19
The Public Safety Report is compiled from criminal complaints filed in state and federal courts, as well as some police blotter information, trooper dispatches, fire department reports and interviews with public safety officials. Individuals named as arrested and/or charged with crimes in this report are presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
Assault• Calvin Ray Charlie, 32, of Fairbanks, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly punched and kicked his wife Nov. 1. Charlie also has been charged with criminal mischief because three doors were damaged in the assault, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
• Michael C. Durgin, 20, of Fort Wainwright, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly headbutted his girlfriend on Monday.
• Nathan A. Mctaggart, 35, of Alaska, was charged with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly threw a dish at his girlfriend, striking her in the eye on Sept. 17.
Burglary• Someone broke into Videos Unlimited in Delta Junction overnight Saturday and stole about $1,000 in cash, according to Alaska State Troopers.
• Troopers are investigating a burglary that occurred just past 1413 Mile Alaska Highway. Between Nov. 3 and Tuesday, someone broke into the house and stole a Honda 2000 generator and a Hsqvarna Rancher chain saw worth about $1,200.
Anyone with information about either burglary is asked to call troopers at 895-4800.
DUI Heather Marie Fernandez, 34, of Fort Wainwright, was charged with driving under the influence after Fort Wainwright police contacted her Friday on Trainor Gate Road. Fernandez had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and poor balance at the time police contacted her, according to a criminal complaint filed in court. She also was charged with refusal to submit to a chemical test.
TheftA 36-year-old woman is believed to have fled the state after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from her former employer.
Cheryl L. Hutson has been charged with second-degree felony theft and third-degree misdemeanor theft.
Court documents allege that in July, Hutson stole more than $2,500 from A&W Wholesale and tried to cover up the thefts using fake invoices. She also took another $1,100 of company money to pay off a credit card and traded hair nets from her work for tanning at a local business, according to the criminal complaint filed in court.
The alleged thefts occurred in early July, shortly before Hutson quit her job and left the state. Troopers believe she is living in South Dakota but have been unable to contact her, according to the complaint.
