ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A North Slope worker was killed when a pickup truck pinned him against a section of pipe.

BP spokesman Steve Rinehart identified the man as New Jersey resident Mike Phelan.

Phelan was a BP contractor who worked for MISTRAS Group Inc., a Princeton Junction, N.J.-based outfit. Rinehart says it's not known why the truck rolled and pinned the man against the pipe Wednesday afternoon.

The state Department of Labor and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.

Just heard about it this morning as I was getting ready to leave the slope for my R&R! My thoughts and prayers to his family, as it is so close to the holiday season! You're ALWAYS suppose to leave just the same as you arrive, SAFE! Knowing a family is gonna be without a father/husband/son/brother, especially during the holiday season, really sucks!
