FAIRBANKS — Doyon Foundation recently welcomed two new members to its board of directors. Julie Anderson and Shane Derendoff were elected to the board at the foundation’s annual meeting last month. Anderson and Derendoff fill the seats vacated by outgoing president Dawn Dinwoodie and outgoing board member Edward Hebert.

Anderson, originally from Fairbanks, holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in international management from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a Master of Business Administration from the American Graduate School of International Management. She is the engineering business manager at Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. in Anchorage. Her term runs until 2012.

Derendoff, a Koyukon Athabascan originally from Huslia, is a returning foundation board member, having served from 2002–2006. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from UAF and works as an information technology specialist with Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. in Fairbanks. His term runs until 2012.

The 2009–2010 foundation board of directors, which also includes Wesley Roberts Dalton, Lorraine David and Victor Nicholas, had its first meeting last weekend. During that meeting, Derendoff was elected board president, Dalton was elected vice president and David was elected secretary/treasurer.

The Doyon Foundation was established in 1989 by Doyon Ltd., the Fairbanks-based regional Native corporation for the Interior. The foundation’s mission is to provide the highest level of support to Doyon shareholders and their descendants by providing post-secondary scholarships, advancing traditional Native knowledge and increasing Native student performance levels.
