FAIRBANKS — Ten downtown businesses will usher in the holiday season with a window decorating contest running through Dec. 21.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, Co-op Plaza, If Only ... A Fine Store, The Fudge Pot, Chartreuse, Alaska Gold ‘N’ Gems, Soapy Smith’s Old Tyme Restaurant, Big Ray’s, USKH and Arctic Travelers Gift Shop are participating.

The public and a panel of celebrity judges will help select winners. Ballots are available at each location.

Many downtown businesses will be offering music, food and entertainment during the next two Saturdays as part of the Downtown Winter Solstice. Special events will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19 and on Dec. 21 for winter solstice.
