Hi - I was watching the cam in Nome a few minutes ago, waiting to see if any mushers were coming in, and a couple of people on bicycles road down chute to the burled arch. There was a whole bunch of people there to meet them. Anybody have any idea what that was all about? Hope everyone had a good St. Paddy's day. Special day for us - No. 2 son turned 35. Boy, am I getting old!!! Prayers to all who need them. Libby
What is he afraid of, we don't even know his last name? Are people going to print out his picture and walk around trying to match it to his face? Sheesh! The only reason I don't post my picture is because I don't take a good picture at all.
Freelady, sorry you missed the pic of Scott and I, he didn't even want me to post it. He's leary of open forums like this. If he changes his mind I'll post it again sometime in the future. @Jon - "Lovely to see you again my friend, walk along with me 'till the next bend, tell us what you've seen in far away forgotten lands, where empires have turned back to sand...."
chemukh - that's what we originally thought, a Kermode (White Spirit bear). But you're right, they only stay along the coast, for one of them to be up here would be a miracle. so we threw that idea out. More than likely it's an Albino or another color variation we're not familiar with. the photos we looked at were poor, far away with improper focus. No luck searching for hair samples, but we still have a lot of ground to cover, we'll go back tomorrow. We looked in a forested area above Haines.
Gabrielle, where are you now? Is your " albino " black bear perhaps a kermode bear? I guess it all depends in what region you are, I don't think they roam that far north from the coast of British Columbia...
Killing time before heading home. I prefer the subway when it's not so crowded though last week I did get a marriage proposal. LOL nothing like commuting face to face. Have a good night everyone!!
PaDutchGirl, great tips! I didn't know about going to Barrow or Kotzebue when I planned our trip or I would have done it a little differently. Oh well, next time! :) Susanfe, enjoy your vacation and stop by the cam for us!! I missed all the St. Patrick's Day excitement at the Big I. Next year! rpbv, I want to try a winter or two in AK and the summer is lovely. I know Anchorage is like the lower 48 but I am a city girl. I'd like to travel to the other areas though. Another spring-like day here.
Does anyone know who is able to update the webcam time stamp? It's an hour off still. Picky, I know, but it surprises me that it didn't automatically update like most internet connected devices.
Gabrielle, I've been offline for 48 hours, (not my choice) and during that time you put Scott's picture up and took it down and I never got to see it :-(
I see the AA and Miller trucks made it in around all the vehicles left in the parking lot. I wonder if they ran out of AA with the huge crowd last night. Now that would be tragic, haha!
