Thanks for the support! I really appreciate it. This is one of the warmest sites on the web! :) Prayers for Johnny and his family! Libby, while it's still warm here, it feels like fall too--the subtle changes are becoming less subtle. Have a good day everyone! Time to get to work!! Prayers for those who need them!
Hi Joanne - haven't seen any moose cause we've been gone. Went to hot & humid TX to help dgtr & fam move to CO. Have 2 kids in same place now for a while anyway. Visited Tetons(saw moose) & Yellowstone(saw wolves, elk & bison - no bears) on way home. It feels like fall arrived in N. Idaho while we were gone. Enjoy your time in AK & your drive into Denali. Wish we could do it too! Prayers for Johnny(RIP) & family and all others in need. Hi to No.1 grandson @ UAF. Libby
This has got to be one of the more interesting comments ever seen on the ArcticCam! "The ice crystals when you lift the seat in the out house are beautiful at the sub zero temps." ~Been enjoying reading TimeshareVon's blog in anticipation of our trip...only a week to go!~Granny, good to hear from you! I miss your comments on the wildlife around your place!~KittyCatt, my prayers are with you also. Also for the others that have asked. Hi to Libby in Idaho...seen any moose lately? Joanne MN
I left Fairbanks in 1968 when there was an apartment building on the bank of the Chena River in front of Samson Hardware. I suppose that apartment building was torn down too.
The other buildings were removed to make way for a second bridge over the Chena River. The Big I is the sole survivor- standing alone in this parking lot. The outside of the building has been painted. When the work is complete, the Big I front entrance will be on the other side - this will be the rear exit. Meanwhile, Samson's Hardware is open in their new location, on Phillips Field Road.
4evralaskan, Heard on the radio this morning that Johnny was found near his truck on a pull out area around mile 350 George Parks Hwy, by someone who had been pulled over on an unrelated traffic violation. That would be just beyond Ester. May he rest in peace, and his family find peace in knowing his fate.
