John Patrick Youngblood

1944 - 2008

John Patrick “Pat” Youngblood (Gammons) 63, passed peacefully at the Denali Center on Monday, May 5, 2008.
Pat was born in Laramie, Wyo. on July 15, 1944. He came to Alaska as a small boy, in 1949. His family started in Kodiak and later moved to Juneau, where he graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School. He attended Chicago Institute of Technology for a year then transferred to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks where he decided to settle.
He worked mainly in the surveying/engineering industry and later in construction. He lived a short time in California in the early ’90s; and spent time with family in the Mat-Su Valley later. He retired the spring of 2004 and headed back to his old stomping grounds in Fairbanks.
His family will always remember him as a private and stubbornly independent spirit who was very warm and loving.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Mildred Hendrickson; and stepfather, William Frantz.
He is survived by his daughter, Teri Abernathy and her son, Kristopher, of Fairbanks; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Marvan Chase and their children, Jessica, Michael, Joy and Julianna of Palmer; and the love of his life, Jodyne.
The family will have a private viewing at 2 p.m., Monday, May 12, at Fairbanks Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, they have requested that donations may be sent to Denali Center or Fairbanks Cancer Treatment Center.
Arrangements were by Fairbanks Funeral Home and Crematory.
