New prison to be called Goose Creek

Published Wednesday, September 10, 2008

ANCHORAGE — The Matanuska-Susitna Borough says the new $250 million prison being built at Point MacKenzie will be called Goose Creek Correctional Center after a nearby waterway.

Borough spokeswomen Patty Sullivan says a citizens advisory committee suggested the name and the Alaska Department of Corrections approved.

Goose Creek is a tributary to Knik Arm.
