Alaskans offer hurricane help

Stumble It!ANCHORAGE — Alaskans are offering their help to states facing Hurricane Gustav.
The Alaska Air National Guard is heading to Mississippi in a C-17 plane loaded with two helicopters and 30 guardsmen from the 176th Wing.
Officials say the equipment and crews — from the 210th and 212th rescue squadrons — will be available for search and rescue missions.
Another group from the 212th wing also is headed to the Gulf Coast region. The group had been in Kentucky on a training assignment.
Red Cross volunteers from Alaska also are heading to the area to help with relief efforts.
