Alaska McCain and Obama offices pull into election's home stretch

Published Sunday, October 26, 2008

FAIRBANKS — The Alaska branch of the McCain-Palin campaign is asking volunteers here to call undecided voters Outside, particularly in Nevada, as the presidential race enters the home stretch.

A spokesman for the Obama-Biden campaign said they are operating phone banks as well as sending postcards to undecided voters in the Lower 48. Volunteers in Alaska have written about 90,000 postcards, and spokesman Nathan Osburn said they hope to reach 100,000 by Tuesday.

“We are pushing heavily with calls to swing states,” Osburn said. “We are still doing outreach to Alaskans.”

Polls show U.S. Sen. John McCain has a 10-to-20-point lead over his rival in Alaska.

David Boyle, chairman of McCain’s Alaska campaign, wants supporters here to help capture votes in states where the race is close.

“We’re trying to swing some of those undecideds over,” Boyle said during a Saturday morning conference call intended to mobilize the troops.

“This is not a pep rally,” said Glenn Clark, another McCain campaign organizer. “This is a long-distance marathon that ends Nov. 4. We can’t go to these battleground states, but we can call them.”

Obama is leading McCain nationwide and by as much as 12 points, according to polls shown on pollster.com.

Boyle and Clark told supporters to ignore the national polls.

“The only poll that counts is November, as we all know,” Boyle said.

As for the Obama camp, Osburn said supporters are undeterred by McCain’s commanding lead in the state.

In 2004, President Bush won Alaska with a 25-point lead over his Democratic opponent.

The way Osburn sees it, the Republicans have lost some ground.

“We think that there is a very real enthusiasm gap in terms of support for Sen. Obama and support for Sen. McCain here in this state,” the campaign spokesman said.

If your thinking about Voting for "Obama" Think about the words from
Abraham Lincoln, about The Enemy And Danger within !

At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it?-- Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never!--All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.

At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us.

It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide

Hear Democrat attorney Philip J. Berg, former deputy attorney general of Pennsylvania,
about his lawsuit demanding Barack Obama present his original birth certificate to prove he was born in the United States and qualified to serve as president.

Fairbanks voters can send a message to President elect Obama by voting for Ralph Nader.
We support single payer health care. We support criminal prosecution of Wall Street Bankers. Our votes are not for sale. Neither is Ralph Nader.

Philip Berg is an unethical crackpot with a special love for Hillary. Oh, and he's a 9/11 conspiracy theorist, too. LOL

    Great source!

Philip Berg's lawsuit makes me proud to be an American. It's reassurance that our justice system is accessible to everyone, even crack-pots. If you read his lawsuit, you'll quickly realize that it's going to be thrown out by the court because it's based on non-existent legal grounds.

It will be dismissed just as the lawsuit against John McCain for the same issue will be.

The purpose of this type of litigation is to distract from real issues. Let's have a conversation about health care or the economy.
