Crews to clear brush along Seward Highway

Published Sunday, October 12, 2008

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Volunteer crews are clearing brush along a stretch of the Seward Highway in South Anchorage to cut down on collisions between moose and vehicles.

The work was scheduled to begin Sunday and will continue through Wednesday.

The Alaska Moose Federation is organizing the effort.

Federation chairman Gary Olson says crews will focus on the west side of the highway between Dimond Boulevard and O'Malley Road.

He says that area is particularly dense with brush.

Other entities also are participating, including the state departments of transportation and public safety.
