ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- The body of a prominent Barrow whaling captain has been found by search crews.

Eighty-six-year-old Arnold Brower Sr. was reported missing Monday.

He had been on a trip to his remote campsite. Police say his snowmachine went through ice and into water.

Brower was able to pull himself out but could not reach his cabin.

Searchers found Brower's body about 61 nautical miles southeast of Barrow.
