WASILLA, Alaska -- A Wasilla girl has died of injuries suffered in a crash on the Parks Highway.
Alaska State Troopers say 16-year-old Chelsea E. Johnston on Sept. 20 was a passenger in a sport utility vehicle that crossed the centerline at Mile 51 and crashed head-on into a car.
She died Saturday at Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage.
Two passengers in the SUV, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, were critically injured.
State troopers say they remain in Anchorage Hospitals but their conditions have improved.
The driver of the car that was struck, 19-year-old Donna Gallant, also remains in an Anchorage hospital.
The 15-year-old driver of the SUV was treated for minor injuries the day of the crash.

Give it a break. This family has just lost their daughter and doesn't need your speculation nor trying to drag it into the political arena. Goodness. Prayers go out to the families.
What a stupid comment Elizabeth.........why dont you think before you post.......no class whatsoever........my regards to the family during this trying time....
I did'nt mean to offend anyone nor was I trying to make it "political" I will not comment anymore!!!!
One good question, though, is why was a 15-year old driving an SUV with another 15-year old and two 16-year olds? Last I checked, the legal driving age in Alaska was 16. Where were the parents of these kids?
At the funeral.
The parents of the children were at the funeral before the accident?
All kidding aside, my thoughts are with the families.
Yes...all kidding aside. A child has died.
For everyone making the wisecracks....hopefully you don't ever get "the call" or a knock at your door informing you someone very close has lost their life by whatever means.
Not the time for "where were the parents?" either.
I would have to believe they are suffering enough right now.
As a parent of teenagers ITCHING to get behind the wheel and drive, I,personally couldn't imagine losing one of them.
That's why they'll get the keys when I say its time.
Regardless of some very preventable actions....it gets no worse....losing a child...still a baby at 16. And other youngsters seriously injured in the crash.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these children.
All of them.
OK, I wonder what idiot editor left this open to comments. Usually its the ignorant political trolls that make terrible comments like the ones above.
