Published Saturday, November 29, 2008

Public use cabins and ice fishing huts are available at Birch and Quartz lakes.

Alaska State Parks has four ice fishing huts at each location. Public use cabins rent for $25 per night and ice fishing huts cost $15 a day.

The huts are equipped with a wood stove and locations for drilling holes into the ice. Bring your own firewood and ice auger. For information, call 451-2705 or go to www.dnr.state.ak.us/parks/. Maps with the locations of each ice hut also are available.

Reservations may be made at the Department of Fish and Game in Delta Junction at mile 266.7 Richardson Highway, or in Fairbanks at 3700 Airport Way.
